We have a great initiative happening in our community for 2020/21. The Kiwanis Club of Tweed is building an accessible playground. A total of $2,300 was raised the evening of the Monster Mash banquet. On behalf of the 2019 Monster Mash Anglers .... $2,300 will be donated to the accessible equipment. Thank you everyone!

I’m pleased to announce that Monster Mash 2019; first Canadian Fly Fishing for Muskie event was a success! Congratulations to the winning team, The Dropkick Mu...skie’s, and to everyone who participated! Chris Pfohl’s Seminar on Friday had a great turn out. Chris shared a wealth of knowledge and experience and folks had the opportunity to ask questions, review their own set ups, and try out new equipment provided by some of our sponsors. We gathered that night at the local Tweedsmuir Pub for our captain’s meeting and to distribute the custom bumpboards my father, Ted McNaught, meticulously crafted as our unique identifiers to be included in each photo submission and utilized for years to come. We couldn’t have asked for better conditions on Saturday when it comes to fishing for Muskie as we had a front moving in Sunday and confidence that fish were going to cooperate. Participants joined us from near and far and our friends at Vantage Point Media House were there start to finish capturing the moments, the muskie, and the memories that will last a lifetime. A total of 10 muskie and 1 pike were caught; the biggest being a 47 muskie and their first ever on the fly at that. Saturday night we were served a catered pig roast feast, enjoyed the remarkable voice of Victor Jodi Cooper Music, had our Hunting Muskie with a Fly books signed by author and fisherman, Rick Kustich, and held raffles for the numerous donations we received. I am absolutely humbled by the support and generosity of both our sponsors and the participants. We had thousands donated in prizes/giveaways, 40K generated in local revenue, and 2.5K generated from raffles which will be put toward Stoco Lake Kids Ice Fishing Tournament, and the Stoco Lake Stewardship Action Plan. We are so very grateful. I would like to extend a huge heartfelt thank you to all who played a part in making our dream a reality. A lot of hard work was put in by some very passionate people and all with one goal in mind to bring like-minded people together. Thank you to all our sponsors for your generous contributions toward the betterment of this event and sport; to Rachelle Whitfield Hardesty and the Municipality of Tweedwho provided us with the location, support and insurance we needed and assisted in the organization and seamless execution of our plans throughout; to Beachwood Hollow Resort who greeted us with hospitality and granted full use of their facilities and boat rentals; to my close friends Nick Pujic, Christopher Pfohl, Kim Rood, Jay Newell, and Chris Mortier for believing in the dream and your endless support; and most importantly, to the Muskie crazed fly anglers as non of this would’ve been possible without you and your shared passion for this amazing sport.
