RAdm Rebecca Patterson, Commander CFHS, and CPO1 Simpson, CFHSG CWO, are thankful for all of the CFHS healthcare providers and #CAF members who have provided su...pport, and continue to do so in response to the #COVID19 global pandemic. This is why getting a COVID-19 vaccine is important to them: "The vaccine provides a much needed light at the end of the tunnel and will help to bring us to the other side of this pandemic. Helping vulnerable people within my community is important to me and I feel that in-person interactions make a huge difference, especially for the elderly and those that live alone. Receiving the vaccine will bring me one step closer to being able to provide that in-person support to my elderly neighbour again." RAdm Rebecca Patterson "To help protect the people around me. Caring for others has always been important to me, and this is just another way I can show my family, friends, colleagues in the #CAF and my community how much I care about them." CPO1 Lucie Simpson #MyWhy

Today we remember the close to 175,000 Canadians who took part in the campaign to liberate the Netherlands and the more than 7,600 who made the ultimate sacrif...ice. The liberation of the Netherlands, from September 1944 to April 1945, played a key role in the culmination of the Second World War. The First Canadian Army played a major role in the liberation of the Dutch people who had suffered terrible hunger and hardship under the increasingly desperate German occupiers. The Royal Canadian Legion is asking the federal government to grant Veterans automatic entitlement to disability benefits. This would be an immediate means of d...ecreasing the ever-growing backlog of applications to Veterans Affairs. The current process can be onerous and complicated, and without sufficient staff to process the backlog, there is still no end in sight to the current situation. Automatic entitlement would equal the expeditious way our government has provided COVID-19-related benefits to Canadians during the pandemic, with errors to be corrected later. Our Veterans deserve the same treatment, particularly since some dollars were reportedly possibly doled out to Canadians who may not have had adequate evidence of eligibility. Veterans have evidence, and we want them to receive their deserved help, now. https://www.legion.ca//legion-wants-automatic-entitlement-
