Indian mythology, very much alike the mythology of any other ethnic group, is inhabited by the most incredible characters. The elephant-headed deity named Ganes...ha is the most important among them for many people, and he certainly is the most revered by all. The story of how this brave boy, the beloved son of the goddess Parvati, exchanged his own head for an elephant's head, fits into the laws of myths. Like any allegory, it has a fairly logical justification: that was an impressive way to correct the human nature in Ganesh. In this tragic event his ego has been successfully amputated together with the head of a human being. Respectively, egoism, the cause of all earthly tragedies, has been amputated, too. As a result, the main quality - chastity has been preserved intact. As it turns out, chastity is not a natural quality of infancy or an unnatural ascetic self-prohibition. It’s rather the state of freedom of a human being, freedom of his soul, mind, body from all evil. That is, a chaste person is not the one who takes a vow of celibacy, but the one who creates a family, gives birth and brings up a chaste child a child that grows free from anything evil and destructive. Although the basic instinct" is the example that comes to the mind first, chastity is not limited to an attitude towards it. Moreover, chastity is not primarily related to this instinct. Purity is one of the basic principles of the structure of the universe. When purity is adopted and applied by a person in his existence, and therefore in his everyday life, it shapes the pure consciousness of this person. Thanks to the pure consciousness, all our manifestations become conscious and therefore not accessible to destructive forces which manifest in destructive desires, emotions, thoughts, actions ... Is this an ideal? Sure. But isn't the striving for ideals the best quality that distinguishes humans - since the time of Plato, who invented this word? Whatever heights humans could reach, they owe it to this striving. Целомудрие, которое, как выясняется, не то чтобы естественное свойство младенчества или неестественный самозапрет монашества, но состояние свободы человеческого существа его души, ума, тела от всякого зла. Т.е. целомудренная личность не та, которая дат обет безбрачия, но та, что, вступая в брак, рождает и воспитывает целомудренного человека свободного от всего злого и разрушительного. И хотя пример основного инстинкта вполне естественно подворачивается под руку первым, целомудрие отношением к нему не исчерпывается. Более того к этому инстинкту целомудрие имеет отношение далеко не в первую очередь. Поскольку основное, что формирует чистота как один из основных принципов устройства вселенной, принятый и применнный человеком в свом бытии, а значит и в свом быте чистое сознание, благодаря которому все наши проявления становятся осознанными, т.е. не доступными для деструктивных сил, проявленных в разрушительных желаниях, эмоциях, мыслях, поступках Идеал? Конечно. Но разве не стремление к идеалам со времн Платона, это слово придумавшего, лучше всего характеризует человека? В этих стремлениях человек и достиг тех вершин, которых вс-таки достиг. Жаль только, что целомудрие среди этих идеалов встречается не часто
