One of the most exciting parts of getting ready for your new little one’s arrival is decorating the nursery. From the beautifully themed wallpaper to the most comfortable rocking chair and of course the perfect crib. This is all part of the experience, but when it comes to your baby’s crib - keep it boring! What should be in your baby’s crib? Nothing. For safety reasons it is recommended that you have nothing in the baby’s crib - no crib bumpers, no pillows and no blankets... - use a sleep sack instead. From a sleeping perspective, limit the toys to only one lovey/stuffed animal in the crib (free from any ribbons, buttons, etc that may be choking hazards) and get rid of that adorable mobile that’s hanging over the crib. We want to teach baby that the crib is for sleeping only (not for playing) so avoid anything that may cause baby to become overstimulated or distracted. That mobile is a perfect accessory to hang over the change table when you want to distract baby from those diaper changes. #sleeptip #babysleeptips #sleeptiptuesday #cribsafety #babysleep #sleephelp #babysleephelp #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #vancouversleepconsultant #moonlightsleep

Parenting is a team effort. It is equally as important for dad to be a part of your little one’s bedtime routine. Many times bedtime falls on mom, especially if baby is still nursing. Having dad take on bedtime every now and then isn’t only a well deserved break for mom, but is a wonderful bonding time for dads and their littles. Another benefit to dads helping out around bedtime, is when trying to reduce (or eliminate) night feedings. When baby wakes in the night and it’s ...not quite time for a feeding yet, it’s a great idea for dad to tend to that waking. Baby will typically go back to sleep quicker and with less fuss. When mom responds to the night waking, baby will most likely anticipate a feeding. This usually results in more protesting and crying in addition to taking much longer to go back to sleep. Take turns with your partner when it comes to bedtime and night wakings especially in those early newborn days. Not only will you both get some more rest, but your baby will become used to the idea of both parents being equally involved. #sleeptips #newparents #newmom #newdad #daddyslittlegirl #babysleep #toddlersleep #parentinglife #parenting #parentinglife #momlife #dadlife #sleepconsulting #sleepconsultant #vancouversleepconsultant #moonlightsleep
