Staff picks -- featuring favourite artifacts selected by our staff: Today's staff pick is from Laurie. She chose this waffle iron because not only is it a decorative example of a practical appliance but it has an intriguing history. It was used to make waffles for guests in the dining room of LaSalle Hall on Stag Island, shown in this postcard image.
Advent calendars are a popular German Christmas tradition designed to involve children in counting down the days until Christmas. Traditionally each door or drawer was opened to reveal a picture, part of a story or a candy. Now they are as diverse as teas, cheeses or popular toys.

Staff picks -- featuring favourite artifacts selected by our staff -- Today's staff pick is Linda's favourite artifact -- ruby glass lustres. Linda chose these for the beauty and delicateness of the glass. With a lit candle, the warm red glow and enchanting rainbow effect produced by the hanging prisms would mesmerize a Victorian child.
Congratulations to Linda Woods for 30 years of service at Moore Museum! We appreciate all her contributions including creating attractive exhibits, presenting engaging programs and maintaining collections records to preserve the artifacts' stories.

Lest we forget.
Congratulations to everyone who guessed correctly -- it is indeed a gingerbread mantel clock.
