It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I haven’t had time to post much so I’m making up for it. The person that bought the old RM office in Val Marie is turning it into an art studio and wanted the bathroom enlarged and made wheelchair accessible. After a complete demolition of the space and reconfiguration of the plumbing (not done by me) I built a custom vanity with double sinks and a shelf that hides the water pump and holds the water heater and softener system to free up floor space.
With the price of lumber going through the roof this last year, I thought these memes were too funny not to share.
After about 10 days in delays between windows showing up late and not exactly being the right size (which meant a lot of extra work to make them fit) I wrapped up the siding renovation on the front of these cabins down in Val Marie. The dark Hardie board siding flanked by the white vinyl looks pretty damn good. And I actually remembered the before pictures for a change!
When you are a one man show sometimes you need to get creative. Putting windows in solo isn’t the most fun but luckily I am doing new siding too and can screw some 1x4’s in to hold the windows in place while I adjust them.
When working out of town I tend to work longer days to get more done and maximize my time, this week was no different. I pulled double duty and worked until midnight the last couple of days to do a vinyl plank floor install after hours. And par for the course I forgot to take pictures of the carpet before I ripped it out.
Never fails. Changing windows today that finally came in a week late and totally messed up my timeline and I get the 2nd window out just in time for it to rain.

Almost a year ago I put in a bunch of new flooring for my first customer that wasn’t a friend or family member. Today I went down and installed new countertops in their kitchen. And this time I actually remembered the before pictures!

Well here is the more or less finished trailer build. I might add some cleats on the shelves to make sure nothing slides out even though they are sloped to the back and some more tie down points for material.

We are finally getting around to building some shelves for this trailer. It keeps getting put off but I’ve had enough of the mess and jigsaw puzzle that I had to sort out every time I would put stuff away. Stay tuned for the end result.
The storm on Monday put a hold on this one and it had to wait until Wednesday, but we got the old door changed on this rental unit.
Sent this small little project out the door this week. It started off as more of a pattern and proof of concept that I did for another couple. While it used some less expensive material and wasn’t as highly polished as the other one it will still work.
On the weekend I delivered this GIANT custom mirror and shelf. It’s over 8’ tall and almost 6’ wide with the shelf being another 12 wider and weighs probably 300 lbs.. It was a challenging build not so much due to difficulty of design but just sheer size, my shop isn’t overly big so it took up a lot of room. Besides the room it took up it had to go up 3 flights of stairs. A huge shoutout to my brother-in-law that had the pleasure of helping me haul it up the stairs and my beautiful wife that helped lift it onto the hanging cleat
Material is bought and we are ready to start the next project. I am also wondering if this counts as a before picture? Stay tuned for the finished products
I made a maple and walnut bottle opener with hidden magnet for a last minute gift for my brother in law. It turned out pretty good. I have a few left to finish that are maple/ walnut and one more walnut/maple that can be up for grabs. I can also do a cherry/maple blend or solid species of any of those three.
This toddler tower is all finished up and waiting for the new owners to figure out delivery/pickup details. If you want one of your own drop me a line.
Not every project I do is as glamorous as a bathroom or kitchen renovation. Sometimes you need to crawl around in a tight crawl space and level a floor beam.
This week I installed some new laminate on some old countertops for a repeat customer. It will definitely brighten the kitchen up. And surprisingly enough, I actually remembered to take a few Before shots for a change!
