Good afternoon, FRC families. The sun is shining and we are grateful for all of you. Imagine your mind as a garden. Positive thoughts are the tiny little seeds that grow into beautiful flowers that brighten our life. Taking time for yourself is also like planting a seed. You can plant seeds of love, happiness, joy, peace, calm, focus, and relaxation. If we plant these positive, good-feeling seeds (aka thoughts), and fertilize often with repetition and rehearsal, pretty soon... we generate good feelings and begin to see the flowers of positive experience blooming in our life. If this sounds like something you would like to give a try, we would love to have you join us for our June program, "Growing Your Garden". Who: FRC staff along with YOU - parents and caregivers What: A daily practice of nourishing your mind, body and soul When: 1:30pm daily for 5-10 minutes, for 21 consecutive days starting mid-June Where: Zoom and a private Facebook group will be created for participants Why: You are important and You matter! Please feel to comment if you are interested or email us by hitting the "send email" button at the top of our page.

Good morning! Another topic that Nobody's Perfect Parenting talks about is behaviour. Your child needs your guidance and love. They need you to be consistent and patient. Your child learns from what they see and what you do with them each and every day.... Handling your child's behaviour may be easier if you think about it as a problem to be solved. Put on your detective hat and ask yourself: ~ what is happening here? ~ why is it happening? ~ what can I do? ~ what if it does not work? And remember that there is no perfect way to parent, but there may be some useful information for you to try that may make your job a little easier. Take care today, be kind and believe in yourself

Hello families! The ASQ-3 questionnaires focus on 5 domains or key areas in your child's development - Communication, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Problem Solving and Personal-Social. Assessing these areas gives you a well-rounded snapshot of your child's skills and abilities. The Personal-Social domain assesses self-help skills such as feeding, dressing, and toileting AND it also assesses social interactions with others. ... For example, on the 4 month questionnaire you may be asked: "When your baby has her hands together, does she play with her fingers?" Along with the screening, ASQ-3 also offers activities for you to work on at home with your child. For example, if your infant is 2-4 months old, ASQ-3 suggests the following: As baby's fist begins to relax, place a small toy in his hand. He won't be very good at letting go just yet. Let him grasp your finger while he feeds. Smile and tell him how strong he is! You may be wondering... Can a questionnaire really capture my child's true skills and developmental progress? YES! Studies show that parent/caregiver completed screening is very effective at pinpointing your child's progress. You know your child best! A parent/caregiver reporting tool like ASQ-3 calls for your unique perspective on how your child behaves and performs skills in a natural setting like your home. It captures the big picture of your child's development better than a screening that takes place in an unfamiliar setting.
