Here’s everyone’s yearly reminder from Dr. Kerri Rae to not hang newborn calves upside down/over fences when stimulating them to breathe! The fluid you see is coming from the stomach (not the lungs) and this position puts pressure on the diaphragm, actually making it harder for the lungs to inflate. See the attached video for vet approved methods of stimulating calves to breathe.

If you need veterinary supplies or assistance and you or your household members a) have traveled outside the province within the past 14 days OR b) have a fever or respiratory symptoms... If you arrive at the clinic and the door is locked, we have reached our maximum capacity in the building. Please wait outside or in your vehicle and we will help you as soon as we have finished serving the customers before you. 3. We ask that no more than 2 people accompany a pet to an appointment. 4. If you need supplies, medication or food, you may call or email us and pay in advance to minimize traffic in clinic, and we will tell you where the supplies will be for pick up. 5. Due to the above, we are experiencing a high volume of calls.
