Today marks the last day of our #MarketingChallenge. This post is to describe what keeps me MOTIVATED to grow and reach my goals. I had to really take some time thinking about this one because there are so many things that have caused me to 'carry on', but in my heart and the reason I even started this business was "PEOPLE". I love people! I love bringing people together. I love feeding people. I love sharing with people. I love talking with people. I love to hear their stor...ies. I love how people become a community, and Bashaw has a great one! What I set out to achieve was a space where people could come together and feel welcomed and relax and enjoy their surroundings. I'm so grateful for the ones that have come and shared with friends and family that they have enjoyed their time here, and they continue to come. When I was researching to start up this coffee shop, I spoke with a few successful coffee shop owners and all of them told me not to establish my business in a small town, that I wouldn't make enough money.....I love small town. It's never been about the money for me. I just wanted to be around people, be part of a community. Even if we are not successful and we can't carry on, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm thankful for the experience, getting to know the other business people, and being a part of the Bashaw community..... and beyond. #itsallaboutlove #carryon #community

To be honest, to say I'm an expert on coffee or food or running a business is not true. All I know is stuff I've learned from other people, research, and experience/practice. To learn from an 'expert' is learning things that they've learned from others and experience/practice. Some of us are good at what we've learned and others....not so much. There are so many things I like to do! I am a bit of a nerd, a geek, a goofball, a gamer, an artist, a music lover, a tomboy, a lover of frilly and sparkly things, a photographer. I am a daughter of the King (I don't mean Elvis), a mother, a wife, a grandmother. I love to laugh, I don't like crying but sometimes it's needed. I love to create things, I love colour. I love community. I like to serve and feed people, make them feel welcome. I like food and coffee! Sweets are my... favourite, although I can't eat them like I used to. I don't feel my age or act it sometimes, and then other times my body reminds me just how "young" I am. It's hard for me to focus on just one thing sometimes, but if I want something done right and well, I need to focus. All these things I bring with me into my business. Today's challenge is to share a business lesson/struggle you overcame. Thinking on this one for a few days I still don't really have anything that I can put my finger on. I believe it is because we've only been at this for almost 3 years and seriously, still trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. We are still learning and trying different things. It's so important, more than ever right now, to be shopping local. Not only are you helping the economy or your town and country but you are supporting the families in your community. At Meeting Place Coffee Roasters we try to source as much locally as we can. All our deli meats and more comes from Bashaw Meats and Sausage LTD. They have been such a great help to us not just in supplying meat but great advise and support. I'm sure you all can attest to how great they are! A...nother great help to us has been Ted at Bashaw Groceries. When I am searching for bread items that will work at our shop, he goes above and beyond to try to find it for me. Then there is Wild Rose Food Service. This family run business also has been wonderful to us. A big shout out to Erin who works there. I'm sure I've tested her more than any other client. I'm always looking for something they don't normally stock and she is faithful to hunt it down if she can. We are so blessed to have so many local businesses around us.
