My objective that day was to capture a nice sunset over Medicine Lake. As the sun started to get low, plenty of clouds rolled in and the views just materialized in front of me. If you never try, you never win. Jul 2018. 6 sec @ f/11, ISO 50. Canon EOS 6D with Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM.

Sunset at Medicine Lake. These trees were burned in the Excelsior wildfire in Jasper NP (2015). As much as they are a natural occurrence, wildfires leave big scars in the landscape. To a photographer, these areas offer a perspective into the ephemeral cycle of life, which contrasts heavily with the perennial nature of the rocky mountains around. Jul 2018. 20 sec @ f/16, ISO 50. Canon EOS 6D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. Jasper National Park #thecanadiancollective Canadian Geographic Jasper, Canada Canada Keep Exploring Travel Alberta Parks Canada

I planned to shoot a sunset in Medicine Lake, and we got there with lots of time to spare. I quickly found a nice composition, but the light was not there yet. Even when shooting the most gorgeous views you have to keep an eye out for your surroundings. Sometimes there's a nice image to be captured just outside of your field of view, as this turned out to be. Jul 2018. 55 sec @ f/16, ISO 400. Canon EOS 6D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. #cangeo #explorecanada #tourca...nada #imagesofcanada #nature_good #naturephotography #phototag_nature #natureaddict #canon_photos #phototag_sky #inspiring_photography_admire @totescanadian #canadiancreatives #thecanadiancollective @jjcommunity @tourismjasper @jaspernationalpark @untoldvisuals #igbest_shotz #in2nature @canadiancreatives #gramoftheday #canadasworld #mountainscape #splendid_mountains #jasper #exploreocanada See more

You can call me Ishmael, as I have looked into the whale’s mouth and survived. Whale’s mouth is the term used to describe the deep blue mammatus clouds that appear immediately after the shelf cloud edge and form the inside of the supercells. They are super cool to watch, although if you stare too long you’ll probably get drenched and pelted with hail. This beautiful sunset was happening just as we drove by Pierceland, SK. Jun 2018. 1/60 sec @ f/11, ISO 400. Canon EOS 6D with Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC.

Following the amazing storm that ripped through NE Alberta last Saturday was indeed an intense adventure. Beautiful scenery made even better by the menacing clouds swirling above us, all day long. PS: on another note, we are now posting to over 1,000 followers on Instagram!! A big thanks to all those who have, in one way or another, supported me in this fun-filled experience that is photography. And if you are not yet following us on that platform, you’re definitely missing out on some photographic goodness. Jun 2018. 1/10 sec @ f/11, ISO 400. About yesterday.... yeah, I went storm chasing a little bit . Such a crazy, adrenaline-filled day. Surely a blog post coming up soon, I can’t wait to write it all up. Jun 2018. 1 sec @ f/11, ISO 400. Canon EOS 6D with Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC. Note: Storm chasing is intense and can yield great images if you get lucky, but can also be very dangerous. Be sure to educate yourself before you head out, or partner up with someone that knows that they are doing. ... Mark Jinks of Mark Jinks Photography was kind enough to bring me along his chase yesterday and to share his knowledge with me during this 17-hour adventure, as well as keeping us safe with awesome driving skills. Safety always come first, no one's life is worth any photograph.

Last summer we had the privilege to go on a canoeing trip on Maligne Lake and visited this iconic Canadian location. Being free from the time constraints of the tour boat, we had Spirit Island all to ourselves. Jul 2017. 1/160 sec @ f/7.1, ISO 200. Canon EOS 6D with Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM.
