I'm taking a short break from knocking on doors to spend some time with my family. I'll be back out pounding the pavement after the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope everyone gets to spend some time with people they love this weekend! Remember that voting is now open and you can vote online or by phone any day at any time until Saturday, October 17. #exerciseyourrighttovote
Voting starts tomorrow! Do you have your voter letter? You will need it to cast your vote via phone or internet this year.
Best way to end a full day of knocking on doors? Coming home to supper already made and ready to eat! Thanks to the West Side United Church in Pentz for the delicious chicken dinner!
Another great day of knocking on doors! It has been such a rewarding experience to visit so many homes and hear from people in the area. I decided to get involved in local government in part to effect positive change for the future, for the kids and families in our community. It has been exciting and inspiring to discuss how we can work together to build this vision. #voteReinhardt
Today is Orange Shirt Day, a day that provides an opportunity to honour Indigenous people who were forced into the residential school system in Canada. It's also an opportunity to talk about the racism, injustice, and lasting effects of this policy (the last residential school closed in 1996).
Not sure if you live in District 2 or not? District 2 includes the following communities: West Dublin, Dublin Shore, LaHave, Pentz, West LaHave, Pleasantville, Conquerall Bank, Conquerall Mills (some addresses), Lake Centre, New Cumberland, and Mount Pleasant. If you'd like to make sure you're on the voter list, message me or contact the elections office at [email protected] or (902) 530-3268. Voting starts October 8, online and by telephone only!
Our roads are built to move cars, but are we doing enough to encourage active transportation? I've talked to many residents who think our roads could be made more accessible for walking (including folks pushing strollers), cycling, and other modes of active transportation. Plus, it's good for the environment and our physical and mental health. #vote Reinhardt #activeliving
It's no surprise that environmental concerns are top of mind for people I've spoken to who live along the beautiful LaHave River. This is an important issue for me. One of my first teaching jobs was in a First Nations community school in northern Saskatchewan. It was here that I learned about the 7th generation principle, the idea that decisions we make now affect the future and we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations. Moving forward, let's make decisions with this in mind. #voteReinhardt #7thgeneration
Who doesn't love a 50/50? If you'd like to support one of our hard-working local fire departments, here's your chance. $5 a ticket. Ticket sales end tonight at 7, draw date is tonight at 9. I've got my fingers crossed that I have the winning ticket!
There have been a few closure announcements due to the arrival of post tropical storm Teddy. Rissers Beach and Graves Island campgrounds and day-use areas will close at noon today. Provincial beaches along the Atlantic coast will also close at noon today. This includes the following beaches in Lunenburg and Queens counties: Rissers (day-use), Bayswater, East River, Second Peninsula, Summerville, Port L'Hebert, Thomas Raddall day use. Projected re-opening is Thursday September 24th at noon. Stay safe, everyone!
The sun was out for this wonderful gathering at Fort Point Museum today, a celebration of our Mi'kmaq and Acadian heritage. It was a pleasure to talk with community members, listen to some great music, and score some goodies from the bake sale! Thank you to the folks at the museum for providing this opportunity to connect.
Let's talk about age friendly communities! Many of our seniors have been feeling increasingly isolated in the wake of the pandemic. Our municipality can help seniors stay active, healthy, and engaged in their communities by championing accessible and affordable community services, especially in the areas of recreation, transportation, and housing. #seniorsmakegreatneighbours #agefriendlycommunities #aginginplace #affordablehousing #voteReinhardt
A great day for a market and knocking on doors! There will be another market next Saturday, 9-12, at the West Dublin Hall. Come out and support our local food producers and artisans! #voteReinhardt #locallygrown #supportlocal #poundingthepavement
I am committed to listening to you and making your voices heard at the council table! That's why I'm knocking on doors every day and taking the time to discuss your concerns and hear your ideas for the future. #voteReinhardt #poundingthepavement #listenandlearn
