It was wonderful to welcome you back to the office last week! Our team had a great week and we really enjoyed seeing your smiling faces! The Docs got to wrap up the week with some Father's Day Celebrations too. We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and that you got to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

We are re-opening! We are very excited to welcome you back to our practice. We have missed you during this time and we sincerely hope you and your loved ones are doing well. It is hard to believe so much has changed in the course of two and a half months. Our office plans to re-open on June 15th. We have a long list of patients who have had appointments cancelled during our temporary closure. Rest assured that over the coming weeks our administrative team will be in touch... to reschedule you. Thank you for your continued understanding. During the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been researching, planning and educating ourselves on how to best serve our patients as safely as possible. At Morihira Dental, we have always utilized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and the Alberta Dental Association & College's hospital level of infection prevention and control standards. We are happy to report that we are working hard on planning our re-opening. As of Friday, all three of our governing bodies have now provided their guidelines for practice. We have been busy reviewing guidelines, participating in webinars, researching products, and following up on our PPE orders. We can't wait to see you again in our office and look forward to showing you all of the additional measures we have put in place for our beloved patients and staff...we even have medical grade HEPA air purifiers!

An Update For Our Patients: Today’s announcement by Premier Kenney was a surprise to all of the dental health professionals in Alberta. It appears this decision was made by the Government of Alberta without prior consultation with the Alberta Dental Association and College. As a result, we are waiting for an update from our governing bodies to see what procedures and requirements we would be required to undertake for the first phase of our return. We will follow this clo...sely and will advise you of our plan moving forward, as we receive more details. It is important to note that this evening, the Alberta Dental Association and College did reinforce that the current suspension of non-emergent dental care remains in place at this time. Have you been snacking more lately? Working from home, many of us have found ourselves nibbling on food throughout the day. Be sure to remain diligent with your oral health routine, especially during this time. We want you to keep your mouths healthy and clean! Be sure to: 1. BRUSH your teeth at least twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste. If you have become a frequent snacker, it would be wise to increase your brushing frequency.... 2. CLEAN between your teeth daily. Use floss or other recommended interdental devices. 3. Take it up a notch and RINSE your mouth using an antibacterial mouthwash once a day. Coupled with a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle choices, a consistent home oral hygiene routine can offer powerful protection for our mouths!

Smoking / Vaping and Covid-19 Quitting smoking / vaping can both help lower your risk of serious COVID-19 symptoms and help support your immune system. Both smoking and vaping affect your respiratory system and have the potential to damage your lungs. In addition, both can weaken your immune system. This combination of effects means you may be both more likely to experience severe symptoms and less able to fight off the virus....
