Area F5 Director Patrick Juma Owino announced Monique as the winner and virtually presented her with a first place certificate. On behalf of Morning Challengers, I would like to also recognize the volunteers that put on the F5 Area contest. They did an awesome job!

Today's meeting was another fun one, for sure! The theme "St. Patrick's day" got us all in the spirit for tomorrow's holiday as we reminisced about our own lucky and green situations. Our wonderful toastmaster Allan kept us on track while also taking on evaluating Kathy's speech about her childhood car Scarlett. Great speech Kathy! Since we only had one speaker this week, Sandra had us play a game in which we spoke for 1 minute while incorporating words and phrases suggested ...by the rest of the group. She then led us through an engaging round of table topics. Thanks for challenging us this week, Sandra! Our table topic evaluator Glenda and General Evaluator Sean gave constructive, but encouraging, feedback on how we can improve our speaking skills in the future, before Allan presented the best Table Topic award to Sylvia and Kathy. Congrats guys! The meeting then was closed off with a quote by the one and only Oprah Winfrey. What a great way to start the day. See more

What a great meeting we had this morning! Our theme, Lessons I Learned the Hard Way, was picked by our very organized toastmaster Don who kept us engaged and going throughout. Our Sgt. at Arms Sylvia got us off to a lively start and Annalena challenged us with the word of the day "Takeaway". Congrats to Sean for a great speech and a new path! Looking forward to hearing more soon. Since there was only one speaker this week, Don came up with a fun game in which we were split i...nto two groups, given a topic and told to speak on it for 1 minute without any repetitions or hesitations. After a rough start, we got the hang of it and laughed A LOT throughout. Thank you Don! Then, Sylvia and Sean gave an informative report during the business meeting, letting us know what the outcomes of the Moments of Truth and financial reports were. After the hilarious joke from Monique, she led us through an engaging round of Table Topics where everybody spoke for almost the entire 2 minutes. Congrats to Alvin for winning this week! Glenda led us through the Evaluation portion where Sandra and Allan gave their insightful perspectives on Sean's speech and Table topics, and then gave a wonderful evaluation herself. Of course, a big thank you to Kathy for keeping us all on time. Overall, what a great meeting! Hope to see everyone next week! See more

Come join us for a virtual coffee at our Morning Challengers Toastmasters open house!

This morning's meeting sure kept us on our toes! The theme, "Spring Follies" was picked by our toastmaster Kathy and, after some debate as to what that actually means, we had a very happy-go-lucky meeting. Sandra gave an imaginative speech on what mentoring will look like 50 years from now, after which we played a food-themed game of charades. Definitely very interesting over Zoom! Big congrats to Sandra for completing another step on your pathway. Sylvia changed things up fo...r Table Topics this week by giving us a picture of a comedic animal and having us come up with an engaging story, which was then evaluated by our best evaluator for the week, Sean. Monique also gave a constructive evaluation of Sandra's speech, knocking it out of the park as usual. Glenda brought it home with a wonderful General Evaluation of the meeting. Last, but certainly not least, we welcomed back Alvin to the group! Denise inducted him this week and he even provided his own introduction! We are so glad to have you back in the club, Alvin! Morning Challengers Toastmasters club held a special meeting on October 10th; Giving Thanks to Henry Unrau. In loving memory, Henry Unrau was honored Morning Challengers Toastmaster of the Year 2019/2021. In addition to recognizing Henry's accomplishments, the Morning Challengers Toastmasters Club established a "Henry Unrau Legacy Award". The award acknowledges Henry's contributions and recognizes a dedicated student Toastmaster. This year's recipient is Annalena Thiesen. A very active and valued member of our club. Congratulations Annalena! Henry Unrau will be missed; however, his legacy lives on through the many lives he has touched over the years.
