Just one more bucket of summer blooms

Last night’s sunset in the garden was pretty dreamy It’s our last weekend for u-pick flowers! We’re open Friday from 4-6pm and Saturday from 10am-noon

This week’s $20 Harvest Pack with some seasonal favourites from the farm: purple cabbage, crisp carrots, delicata squash, tender kale, sweet Italian peppers, red onions, rocambole garlic, and fresh scallions. You can order for pickup or local delivery, either through our newsletter or send us a DM and we’ll give you the inside scoop

We were hoping to be open this weekend but there’s been such an incredible amount of rain over the past few days that the flower garden is still flooded. The u-pick will be closed until things dry out (stay tuned for next week’s hours!) but we’ll still have buckets of blooms and pre-made bouquets available to order by email/message, or through CFM2GO @charlottetownfarmersmarket

Come pick flowers tomorrow! We’re spending the weekend preparing the farm for hurricane winds which are likely to take out what’s left of the flower garden. Rather than the usual $15 cost, bouquets will be by donation ($10 suggested, or pay what you can) to the PEI Humane Society. There are still lots of colourful sunflowers, cosmos, snapdragons, and other beautiful blooms that survived the frost! Help us find a home for the last of our flowers while supporting the wonder...ful folks and critters @pei_hs Park along the road by the farm sign at 139 Jewell Road and help yourself! The usual physical distancing and hand sanitizer rules will be in effect, but instead of our regular setup we’re asking you to bring your own clippers/scissors and bouquet supplies. : A snap from when I first learned to grow veggies @heartbeetorganics in 2013, which is also where I learned that the annual squash harvest is my favourite part of the season. We’re not quite at that point of bulk fall picking, but our CSA members are getting some of the early spaghetti squash in their bags this week

We’re entering that unpredictable time when a hurricane or frost could abruptly end our flower season - but for now there are still lots of bloomin’ beauties! Like these carnations that are the gift that keep on giving (and are so much more than you remember from your prom corsage), sunflowers in pretty autumn shades, bright cosmos, lots of zinnias, and other varieties for fresh or dried bouquets

Here at the farm we grow vegetables on an acre or so of land, and the flower garden is even smaller than that. There’s a little woodlot at the back and the rest of our 36-acre field is leased to a neighbouring farmer, but some areas just aren’t great for agriculture. So when the local watershed team asked if we’d convert the marshy parts of the field into proper wetlands we jumped at the chance! We’re excited to watch that empty new pond grow into a vibrant habitat for lots of plants and critters . by the @theredheadroamer @ Cornwall, Prince Edward Island

CSA Week 8 featuring essential ingredients to make any kitchen smell amazing @ Cornwall, Prince Edward Island

Our farm is in a little valley where the fog likes to settle. Because of this we also tend to get earlier frosts. While it’s most definitely still summer out there (and we want to keep it that way as long as possible!) this morning’s walk at sunrise felt like a hint of fall
