Gorgeous day to be out on the Fraser River in search of mosquito larvae. Low river levels currently, which means current larval production is minimal. #fvrdmosquito
The MBL crew out yesterday in the elements. We are monitoring several canoe access mosquito sites tracking down larvae. #mvrdmosquito
Field crews are out starting this week, surveying and checking for mosquito larvae. Martin is actively checking this particular sample.
This is very important - anyone getting aquarium supplies should thoroughly check for this invasive mussel. If these get into our waterways they will devastate our ecosystems.
An excellent opportunity to help out! Yay Fishing with Rod!
Mad local skills - helping us get the work done. Thanks Moustache Metalworks!
While adult mosquitoes numbers still remain high, we anticipate them dying off in the next week or so. We continue to monitor all known mosquito sites.

If you receive these packages of seeds, please do not put them in your garden or in any other space. Dispose of them carefully - they may be invasive plants and lead to significant costs and difficulties for you and/or your community. https://www.cbc.ca//warning-about-unauthorized-seeds-in-ma

This is a fabulous program and an even better opportunity! We highly recommend anyone with an interest in wetlands to sign up and attend! You will be very glad that you did.

Along with everything else that 2020 has brought, Mother Nature also had bad mosquitoes on the agenda. A prolonged freshet, coupled with cool, wet weather, has meant that most areas in the Province are experiencing considerably higher than average mosquito annoyance. Our crews have been monitoring and treating mosquitoes as they hatch, and what we are experiencing now is the dispersal of the mosquitoes that we weren’t able to treat (typically small pockets of larvae that th...e aerial activities didn’t quite get). Crews will continue to monitor and treat mosquitoes as we find them, however, not a lot of new mosquitoes will be hatched unless water levels exceed those experienced already. As we transition to a warmer and drier July the mosquitoes will begin to die off. Remember to protect yourself with good window screens, appropriate use of repellent, and wear light-coloured and loose fitting clothing. Mosquitoes will be worse in areas where they can shelter from the wind, to ease the annoyance try to stay in open areas, particularly if there's a breeze. #fvrdmosquitoes #mvrdmosquitoes #rdkbmosquitoes
