Happy Eid al-Fitr! More commonly known as the ‘Festival of Breaking the Fast,’ d al-Fir is one of the two most important Islamic celebrations (the other occurs after the Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca). At this celebration, people dress in their finest clothes, adorn their homes with lights and decorations, give treats to children, and enjoy visits with friends and family. Of course with public health measures, this year will look quite different, and many visits will be virtual, but meaningful all the same. To all those marking this festival, no matter how you celebrate, we wish you a blessed Eid! #Eid #EidAlFitr #eid2021
If you're not already familiar the Studenting podcast, it is hosted by student staff and produced by McGill Student Services. It explores how McGill students can live their best life beyond the classroom. Their first season looks at how COVID-19 has affected student life. How do you meet people and build community when you aren’t on campus? For this, MORSL's Director, Carlene Gardner, was featured as a guest to discuss how you can Build Community Where You Are. Tune-in on your streaming platform of choice: available on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Spotify, SoundCloud, and Stitcher.
Don't forget register for our widely popular eco-anxiety workshop taking place tomorrow evening from 7-8 PM on Zoom. All student attendees will also have the chance to win a $20 Indigo e-gift card! #ecoanxiety #mcgill
This Saturday evening, the International Student Ministry at McGill - ISM invites all to join them for a time of reunion, stories, prayer and fun during their Year End Reunion!
It's Mental Health Week, with many events to choose from. One of MORSL's top picks is Healing in Colour, an exploration through the arts of the intersection of race, faith, and mental health. The exhibit features Black, Indigenous, and peoples of colour artists from Canada and around the world, and offers a platform for artists to reflect on the role their faith plays in how they understand mental health challenges, recovery, stigma, self-care and more. The show opens online today and is available for viewing until June 11. https://www.schindellgallery.ca/exhibit//healing-in-colour #spirituality #mcgill #mentalhealthweek #bipocartists
