This morning, the Bank of Canada made its second interest rate decision of 2021, where they announced that the overnight rate will remain unchanged as anticipated. Furthermore the Bank has indicated that they will continue its QE program until the recovery from this past year is well underway. QE Program: Quantitative easing is a monetary policy whereby the Bank of Canada purchases at scale government bonds or other financial assets in order to inject money into the economy to expand economic activity.

Effective Monday, August 17th the Bank Of Canada’s 5 year qualifying rate will drop to 4.79%! What does this mean for you?? Message or email me for more details! [email protected]

This morning the Bank of Canada announced that they are holding their key interest rate at 0.25%. Prime rate is therefore staying at 2.45% for most lenders due to the announcement. The Bank of Canada is also indicating that they will keep rates low until closer to 2023. Click the link for more information.

Interesting read to learn a bit about what may or may not happen with mortgage rates in the near future. If you’re looking to get into the market soon, it might be worth getting a rate hold just to be on the safe side!
