Last night I was out for dinner in Aurora with a friend and we got talking about her mortgage renewal and then the changes the Liberal government has made and h...ow it's unfortunate how it is affecting first-time buyers and limiting others from tapping into the equity in their home. We were approached by a couple sitting next to us who overheard our conversation and they told us they are renting still as they can't afford to purchase now. They said that if they only knew, they would have purchased before the rule changes. Broker friends, don't stop sharing how these government changes impact people's largest investment. People want to be informed but sadly aren't until it impacts them in a negative way. See more

Exciting new program for first time homebuyers to help with your down payment!
Please read, more stringent mortgage rule changes coming. This will affect all home buyers, especially high ratio ones (purchases with less than 20% down payment). Effective October 17th, all insured homebuyers must qualify for their mortgage at an interest rate the greater of their contract mortgage rate or the Bank of Canada’s conventional five-year fixed posted rate. This requirement is already in place for variable interest rates or fixed interest rates with terms less than five years which is now going to be extended to 5 years fixed term and beyond. Please fee free to contact me if you have any questions.
