Wanted to share a book review of Sarah’s. She couldn’t stop taking about how everyone should be reading it, so here it is! Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio. Villavicencio brilliantly weaves her own family’s story with those of others who, for heartbreaking reasons, enter America by other than the ‘proper channels’. It’s hard to hate up close. She writes of the families America doesn’t want, but does exploit to do the jobs no one else will do. They work an...d risk not being paid. They have no recourse for fear of being deported. If they get injured or sick, there’s no legal access to even basic care. The law is out of sync with morality. Ask any of them why they’re here, willing to sacrifice their physical and mental health, and they say so their kids can have a safer life, a better life. Isn’t that what we all want for our kids? - Sarah mosaicbooks.ca/undocumented

There are a lot of Trump books out there, but this one might be worth reading if you need to pick just one. If you caught the interview with Bob Woodward on 60 Minutes you'll know what I mean. Rage is based on 17 recorded on the record interviews between Woodward and Trump on everything from North Korea, Covid, and the protests after George Floyd's killing. Bob Woodward is an investigative journalist who has shared in two Pulitzer Prizes, first for the Post’s coverage of the Watergate scandal with Carl Bernstein, and second 20 years later as the lead Post reporter for coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. If you have a minute, check out this great article by the The Vancouver Sun on how Independent bookstores in BC are running their stores amidst Covid. Featuring our fearless leader Alicia here at Mosaic Books and even our friends upstairs at Bookmanager. "For Alicia Neill, general manager of Mosaic Books in Kelowna, the shutdown reminded her again that the bookstore, which was first opened in 1968, is much more than a business. It is a part of the landscape of the Okanagan... city." Read more here: https://vancouversun.com//303127c5-e160-4764-b253-9381100/
