Under Cover, via Gateway International Painting Competition 2018-2019 - The Gateway International Painting Competition https://ift.tt/2TzzTUj This painting is o...f an adult female Piping Plover and a baby. These small birds are on the Species at Risk List in Canada. The babies are very small and often half of the young ones do not survive. I want to bring awareness for these particular birds, so I have painted a series of these birds. The painting is done in acrylics and painted on a pastel board. I use thin layers of paint to bring out the detail of the birds. The ones often borrow under the female to stay warm. See more
I won an Honorable Mention with the crow Squawker. I also won a Finalist award for the piping plovers titled Getting Cozy - Endangered Species. You will see that image in the series of paintings at the end.
