To my quad dominant peeps! This position was a saviour when learning how to activate my glutes and hamstrings during hip thrusts. As a quad dominant person, teaching my backside to activate and put in the work was tough. I’ve finally re-trained my muscle firing patterns and am able to recruit the necessary muscles for optimal booty gains Toes are pointed up, placing your weight in your heels... Knees are pointed out with resistance from a @peachband Core is tight Pelvis is tucked meaning you are pushing your pubic bone forward and eliminating an arch in the low back Head is forward Connect the mind to where you want to feel it by thinking about that particular body part. It also helps to touch where you’re trying to activate. Think about relaxing the your quads/hip flexors (front of your legs) Practicing proper form and firing patterns is an important part of any training program. Start early in your training to avoid developing any unwanted patterns. See more

QUAAAAD dominance. Something I've personally struggled with while trying to grow the booty. It's annoying and can make booty day a chore. I've developed a program specifically for quad-dominant clients and IT.IS.AWESOME. https://medtherapeutics.ca/education-/f/quadricep-dominance

Hey hey! I just want to take a few minutes and introduce myself! My name is Mychaela and I'm a Registered Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer and business owner. During the day, I work as an RMT at my private practice, MED Therapeutics and in the afternoons I work with my online training clients! I grew up as a competitive gymnast and horseback rider and loved playing rec. soccer. From a young age of two I was introduced to the gymnastics world and loved it for yea...rs. It taught me to test my limits, believe in myself and connect the mind to the body. Having a background in gymnastics has helped me tremendously in many areas of my life and it is what made me fall in love with exercise. For about 7 years, I fell off the "exercise wagon" so to speak and found myself in a situation that completely ruined my mental health, my self-confidence and my self-worth. Recovering from this traumatic time of my life has been a journey to say the least! Starting back at the gym was far from easy for me. I would drive there, stare into the gym from my car, panic and then drive home. I would often call my biggest supporter/boyfriend/pep-talker and cry because I was so disappointed in myself for not making it into the gym. I felt like as soon as I walked in there, EVERYONE would know I was new. Everyone would know that I have no idea what I'm doing. It was intimidating and scary in there and I could not bring myself to walk through the doors. The old, confident Mychaela could, the current Mychaela, definitely not. SO, I began working out at home. This was fine for a while, but I knew I wanted more. I had to put my big girl pants on and walk into that gym. I did it, finally! Some days, I would just walk on the stair-climber, then call it a day. Other days, I would try new exercises, but if a machine I needed was being used I would panic and go back into the changing room to avoid walking around aimlessly. Eventually, going to the gym became an everyday thing and each day became less and less scary. Now, I love being at the gym! It is my second home, it is a place I feel comfortable and confident in. Since making exercise a priority, my mental health has improved drastically, my self-confidence is up, my self-talk is positive and I FEEL GREAT. It has changed other aspects of my life as well, like wanting to eat healthy, cut down on booze and get more sleep. My main goal as a personal trainer is to help people live comfortable, healthy lives. Whether it's from improving your physical health or your mental health I want to be a part of your journey. Side note: I do enjoy other things besides the gym. I love dogs, so last year we decided to start fostering. Ended up being a "foster-fail" to a lovely, senior pitbull named Emma. I also enjoy reading, writing, travelling, and spending time with my love, Steven (who by the way has converted to a gym-lover )
