5th Annual Chase Lakeside Music Series; Canada Day, CornStock and Music on the Lake - Cancelled due to COVID-19. In response to the current COVID-19 situation and with uncertain conditions for crowd gathering even smaller groups of a few hundred there is no other responsible decision in light of the pandemic persisting but to cancel this summer's events in the Village of Chase. We hoped not to have to make this decision, but last week, provincial health officer Dr. Bonn...ie Henry said large summer events would not be happening in B.C. in the foreseeable future and the direction to cancel or postpone events with more than 50 people this summer has led the Chase & District Festival Society and the Village of Chase to follow the her directives. "Realistically, we will not be having those big events where people gather together this summer," said Henry on Saturday. "We do not have enough herd immunity or community immunity to allow that type of event to happen." This year marked the 5th Annual Music on the Lake in Chase, BC. This event, an initiative of Mayor and Council in 2015 and in collaboration with our destination marketing organization, Shuswap Tourism, is part of live music in the Shuswap region 7 days a week - Chase being held on Tuesdays. This event has been incredibly supported by our community; spectators and businesses and by the amazing performers we've seen grace the Joyce Dunn stage over the many years. Each year, we receive upwards of 50 applications from musicians all over the world to play at our beautiful lakeside venue. We want to encourage everyone to continue to support these artists by following their pages and watching their live online concerts. We invite all the performers to tag us @MOTL.ChaseBC in their posts so we can help by sharing their live Facebook events and any other information and updates you'd like Chase to know about! These events would not have been possible without the continued support of our local businesses. During this difficult time, we encourage you all to #shoplocal and support the small businesses that have generously supported our community events over the years and #giveback! See you next summer, in the meantime please enjoy some of our favorite moments over the past 5 years! For full press release please visit our website http://chasebc.ca/2020-lakeside-music-series/
