General Motors announced it would be producing entirely carbon-neutral vehicles by 2040, with the majority being sold by 2035. Fred Jones was someone who personified Mott Electric. He was with us for over 30 years, and few can say they loved their career as much as him. We miss him dearly. Since his passing, his wife, Margaret, reached out to us to show her appreciation for receiving a copy of our completed book - Mott Electric. Our People. Our Story. This is what she wrote on her Facebook wall, "Searched around in my condo for this Character Image that I had someone make for my husband one year for... Christmas...he worked for Mott Electric for over 30+ years after he did his apprenticeship with them...Great company to work for....this is a brand new book of the History of Mott Electric in Burnaby and Vancouver, and I gave each of my Sons one as a gift yesterday.....Thanks to Dan Mott for my copy of this book that as I read it I can see my husband working during the winter on Skytrain rails, building Douglas College in New Westminster and so many projects over the years. So wonderful to read several stories of Fred by Bruce Lewis (General Manager) and then Bruce’s son Jeff who Fred was his Foreman for several projects for. He greatly admired Bruce and Jeff! Enjoying the read of the other employees that Fred often spoke about around the dinner table. Blessed by my late husband, who loved his work and never complained!" Thank you for the kind words, Margaret. It was our honour to share his journey with the world. He helped write our story by being a part of the Mott Electric family, and we will never forget him.

BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technology is known as a hub of trades and excellence. Many of the incredible team members at Mott Electric received their education there, which is why we're thrilled to hear that they are rapidly expanding. In a recent announcement, they made the following promise: "Combining state-of-the-art workshops, simulation lab space, maker space, and a reconfigured works yard, the Trades & Technology Complex will empower students and faculty to collaborate across disciplines and push the boundaries of knowledge--in concert with industry." What do you think about this massive $230 million, 154,000 square foot project?

Have you heard of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch's Kidney Car program? Proceeds from vehicle donations received through this initiative help fund kidney disease education programs, organ donation awareness activities and medical research. As you can see in the photo, two of our vans are headed off into the sunset today and will help the 1-in-10 people in Canada who have kidney disease. We are proud to say that our Founder was a member of the Canadian Military. As seen in the attached document, his oath and declaration records were dated 1916 and he was 22 years old. Thank you to all of those who served, and continue to do so. Lest we forget.

You have likely heard of the incredible work that the BC Children's Hospital Foundation (BCCHF) does for kids in BC and Yukon. They believe that children require specialized tools and compassionate care that prioritizes their unique needs, and we agree. This is why we proudly donated $10,000 to the BCCHF on the annual Day of Giving this year.

As poppies bloom on lapels and collars throughout Canada, they are also appearing on our entire fleet of vehicles. This is just one way we honour fallen Canadian Veterans and help to ensure that those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country are never forgotten.
