My grandfather, Bombardier Fletcher M. Bartlett, was on duty inside the Citadel when the Halifax Explosion occurred at 09:04:35 on this date in 1917. He was 18 ...years old and one of 5,000 soldiers of the Halifax Garrison, who provided the bulk of relief and recovery efforts for the citizens of our city in the aftermath. Part of our Explosion exhibit includes a small part of his story, as well as a watchman's clock (found in the rubble of the shipyard's graving dock) with hands frozen at the instant of the blast. The Army Museum is open today from 10 AM until 2 PM. See more

Head of the Dept of History from 1985 to 1992. I still rely on his history of Methodism in Sackville. His autobiography was interesting, a reminder of pluralist and diverse viewpoints in any institution's history.
Today we remember the victims of all wars. We also honour the approximately 640 Allisonians who enlisted or sought to enlist from 1914-1918 and the 70 of those men and women who did not return. You can see their names and photos here: https://libraryguides.mta.ca/RemembranceDay
