This is Echo. A 3-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Yes, that is the actual name for most Corgi’s, it is also the smallest herding dog breed besides the Border Collie. Echo’s owner is Sophie who is a receptionist at Mount Joy, and she rescued him 2 years ago. He is very active and loves to play fetch and go on adventures as you may see by the pictures. He is very photogenic and maybe one day he will become a famous model in the dog world. Echo’s favorite season is summer be...cause he gets to go boating and swimming. In his spare time, he loves to go to the barn with his owner and while he’s there, he watches Sophie groom and work the horses. Echo comes to the clinic and is loved by every staff member. He sometimes gets to sit at the front desk helping with payments. If you want to see Echo and his brother Oscar more, please check out their Instagram @oscarandecho.

Puppy of the week goes to Charlie!!! Charlie is a very energetic, obedient, and intelligent puppy. He was here two days ago for his first check up at Mount Joy. He had a Dhpp vaccine, but probably won’t recall it because treats are more important. Look how cute and handsome he is!! *Dhpp is a core vaccine prevents distemper, pavovirus, parainfluenza, and two types of adenovirus(hepatitis)

There has been some confusion in regards to the new announcement done yesterday. We are still open and still working under a locked door policy with curbside pick up/drop off (Phone when you have arrived in the parking lot. Pet comes inside while you wait in the car and the doctor speaks to you over the phone on a private number. We prefer credit card payment over the phone to limit contact with the staff and coming into the clinic.). We ask that you wear your mask when handing the pet off to our staff members. Our phone lines get tied up quickly so please be patient. There is a doorbell if you cannot get through on the phone lines. Our vet store is still running and is an option to have your order delivered to your home or for curbside pick up at the clinic. Please stay safe!!!

Benji was SO happy to show off all his tricks today! He is an Alaskan Klee Kai. While this breed can be shy once they become comfortable with you they are very talkative! They have a very high prey drive so are not usually trusted off leash or left unattended with pocket pets. They have a double coat so they tend to shed a lot throughout the year so require a lot of brushing. They are a very intelligent breed and very easily trained! (As you can see in the video!) Mr. Benji you are just the sweetest

Looking for homemade treats for your doggo?? Try this recipe Combine 1/2 cup of plain unsweetened yogurt, 1 cup of natural, unsweetened peanut butter, and 3 cups of rolled oats. Scoop the dough into balls and chill for 30 minutes in the fridge. ... So super easy and the pups love them!

This little Shar Pei piglet is Porky! Shar Pei once used to be known as the rarest dog breed! They have been around since at least 200 B.C. They were originally bred in China to guard and protect the royal palace and family so their loose skin protected them like body armor (if something tried to grab them they would get their skin and their internal organs wouldn’t be damaged). They’re known to be protective, stubborn and independent. Because of their strong guarding trai...ts they can become aggressive towards strangers and other animals so it’s recommended to socialize them early! If you’re wanting to let them share the bed with you beware they do snore loudly! Just look at that squishy face!

Aki the Akita! We are coming up to their favorite season - winter! Akita’s thrive in the winter because of their double coat and webbed paws. They are very protective and unsure of strangers and don’t tend to get along with other dogs. That being said socialization is key as puppies! Also an interesting fact Helen Keller used to own one and it was the first Akita brought into the states. He’s such a happy little guy!
