Yup, I am stuffed, plants in gh, under frost cloths and in shop. Maybe my truck. I make plant forts cuz I am a Mountain Gardener! Cover any annuals planted out for the next two nights. Uncover and water well the next morning. Recover ya know the dance!
I know there are more people dealing with cancer is Grande Cache but there were five of us yesterday and family walking for Compassion House. We want to ensure there is always a safe place for rural, remote women to have a safe welcoming place to stay away from home as they get the care they need. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
I am walking May 15 at 2:00pm Central Park with a small group of phenomenal Grande Cache women who have stayed at Compassion House in Edmonton while away from home receiving cancer treatment. Support us virtually with a donation or join us. I am part of the CH Sassy Sisters team. I am walking for the women before me and after me. Love Karen

OOOO, Blue Bird skies. I want outside! It is early to water perennials or new plantings wait til overnight temps above 4C or you see new growth. Garden fever?! I have good news we can prune! Confused? Just focus on removing damaged, diseased or dying branches. The 3 D's of pruning. Prune Plums, Cherries and Crabapples while they are dormant right now. Check out your trees (3D's) Wait til Lilacs and roses are done blooming to prune. Maples, Birch and dogwood after they are leafed out is best. A few pics of my favorite tree, Mountain Ash great fall color, white blossoms in spring and the Cedar Waxwings love it! Just message if you have any pruning ques. Enjoy the Blue Bird morning.
Sigh... Happy Earth Day! I guess the snow has sent us back into our rooms. I thought I would share this poem or prayer today. It is from a book called, Reclaiming the Wild Soul: How Earth's Landscapes Restore us to Wholeness. Mary Reynolds Thompson. If you want to check out a neat gardener and philosophy, Mary Reynolds, Youngest winner of the Chelsea Flower Show.
The before and after. I am still smiling. I am very excited to get the 2nd Mother’s Day Sheldon Coates fundraiser planted and growing. Our Mom’s and special ladies will be smiling soon too.
I know this long weekend might not be all we hoped for 1yr into COVID-19. Enjoy your Easter with the family around you or the one you created. Big personalities or hairy. Happy Easter! Yup, she makes sure there is a pillow under her head.
I have a wee bit more hair now....there is a free noon time talk about mammograms and utrasounds. A radiologist plus two personal stories about mammos and breast cancer. I am one of the stories as well as a gal from Jasper.
We had glorious afternoon! Calm wind, sun and harp magic!
I needed to cure my cabin fever. I spent today creating in the she shed with my sister and a friend. All materials are local plants pack a picnic, find colors you like and there you bloom. I will be celebrating the fall equinox tomorrow( Sept. 22) 1-2:30pm at the labyrinth listening to Celtic harpist. Welcome fall!
