2007 Mercedes s550 came to our shop with a starting problem. We perform a diagnostic the ECM was not communicating with the fuel pump it's a very common problem on a Mercedes with a ME9.7 bosch computer. We open the computer and repair the problem to save a lot of money on the new ECM. We can also clone that ECM to save a pile of money. We always check the ECM first if could be fixed since you never know if the used computer doesn't have the same problem. Those computers are known for fuel-related problems.

2015 VW Jetta TDI came to our shop with the a/c not working. Customer complains AC not working after a couple of minutes of driving. We perform a diagnostic and find out the fan shroud was not working. With a shortage of parts, the fan was not available for 10 days special order from Germany. We decide to open the fan and have a look at what happens inside. What we discover after opening the fan electric brushes are stuck not moving the dust got inside the housing and stop them from moving. We clean the brushes housing put the fan together and the fan worked like new again. Brushes were still like new there was no need for replacement. We save some money and time for the customer by repair the part.

2011 Mercedes s550 came to our shop with front end noise and low brake pads. We replaced some of the front control arms. We machined front brake rotors and replace the front brake pads with a new wear sensor. As you can see we are capable of machining cross drill rotors as well, which could save you a lot of money instead of replacing them.

Mountain Auto Tech 22.05.2021

2015 BMW 435 came to our shop with water pump failure. We scanned the car and performed a function test. One of the codes was a communication failure, we performed a signature test from DME to verify it. We wanted to make sure that it's not a computer problem before we replaced the expensive water pump. The computer signal was good so then we replaced the water pump and coolant, rid the system from air pockets, post-scanned the car for any more codes, and road tested it to verify the repair.

2015 GMC Terrain came to our shop for brakes replacement, this vehicle has a low millage about 75000 km. Break pads and callipers were seized. Break pads did not move freely in calliper brackets which makes the rotors run a lot hotter than they should be. The result of that is warped rotors. The original rotors are really good and replacing them with offshore parts with the same quality as OEM it's very expensive, purchasing a less quality rotor won't last as long as the orig...inal will. The original rotor on the car it's the best rotor on the market and if we can save you your original part it's much better than any aftermarket parts. PRO CUT Lathe machine will resurface your rotor without taking it off the car and save you a lot of money. Some premium aftermarket parts can be resurfaced as well, Pro-Cut can resurface cross drill rotors as well those original rotors are very expensive to purchase. With all those lockdowns due to covid cars are not driven enough and we get a lot of calls with brakes grinding due to rust, those brakes need to be cleaned up lubricated and get us much life out of them as possible. All the cars with original rotors could resurface instead of being replaced. Not every rotor can be saved but 90% of them can be resurfaced. My advice is to drive the car at least once a week for one hour to keep the battery charge to keep the rust off the brakes and all parts moving so they won't corrode. It's the worst time of the year to park the car and not to drive. Start the car let it idle for 15 minutes all those parts need to be moving. the alternator, starter, all your belt-driven parts, exhaust, gaskets, move your car so your tires won't get damaged, check the pressure of your tires, too many parts to list. Please take care of your car the best you can so when you will go back to work you will have a reliable car to take you there. Without huge expense. See more

2015 Ford Edge came to our shop with rear wheels bearing noise. This is our third Edge in roll with rear wheel hub bearing noise. Everyone of them did not want to separate, with out this hub remover. Took us twice as much time what it should take us to replace this rear wheel hub bearing. To avoid wheel bearing failure do your brake service more frequently so the brake pads are moving in sliders freely, You will benefit from it. Brakes will last much longer and will run cooler so the grease in your wheel bearing wont melt. Try to avoid curbs and potholes and you will get more life out of your car with out expensive repairs.

This is a 2009 Mercedes R320. These are the rear brakes, they were on fire. When you hear a grinding noise when you are driving it, please don’t turn up the radio or ignore it. You have to take care of it or you can potentially end up with a lot of damage. The worst damage you can end up with is damage to your paint. Small particles from the rotor stick to the paint, those small metal particles are extremely hot and damage the paint by sticking to it & then they rust. Even if you clean them, some of them will create cracks in your paint which increases exposure to rust through interaction with water and oxidization. Call us if you feel something sounds off or if your drive doesn’t feel right. We will diagnose and find a solution for you to drive safe and protect your vehicle.

2014 BMW X1 with only 104 thousand km. Just missed Bmw warranty Repair by 4000 km, very common problem with 2.0l bmw engine. It’s a shame to see more and more timing chain failure in those new cars. Old cars were running forever with chain, we do have more moving components in today’s cars but still to see this at such a low millage it’s a shame . All manufacturers are for some reason walking away from timing belts which should save money on maintenance instead we see more and more engine damages with chain drive timing. The only advice I can give it’s change your oil more often and use high quality brand names oil.

This 2015 Mercedes came to our shop for inspection of oil leak like every 2.0L Mercedes engine has problem with engine ventilation it’s a very common problem and result to plucked ventilation system PVC which will cause to blow out the engine seals more likely rear main seal or front crank seal in this case was front crank seal. But we also discover a big nest as you see in a picture, which could cause a fire. The most common problem it’s wires hardness being bitten which could cause a lot of problems. I would advise everyone to open there hoods and look for nut shells dry grass fabric basically you looking for a nest. Most of the time it’s under the air intake, between engine and transmission, engine compartment. By inspecting your vehicle you can save your self a lot of money and unnecessary problems.

2009 BMW X5 came to our shop with oil leak and lots of noice coming out of the engine. With very low mileage for that year. When we took valve cover of the engine this is what we seen a lot of Carbon deposits. This is a result of luck of oil changes which cost premature cam shaft bearing were and valvetronic eccentric shaft sprocket damage. It’s a very expensive repair which could be prevented by simple regular maintenance make sure to use a motor oil with the right manufact...ure specifications recommended by vehicle manufacturers and good quality oil filter. In our shop we use for oil Liqui Moly,Motul, Mobil1, Redline, for oil filters we use Mann Filter, xengst, Mahler original it’s very important to use a good quality oil filter they last up to 30 thousand km. We seen a lot of quick oil places using Fram oil filter those filter are made for 5000 km and they start to disintegrating which all the particles now are getting to your engine so instead to filter the oil they do more damage to your expensive vehicle. Maintenance it’s a key to keep your vehicle running in top notch. See more

2013 Hyundai Accent came to our shop with engine light on displaying code P0326 knock sensor. This vehicle had a technical service bulletin indicating to update software to solve the problem. We perform update took the car for road test and problem solved. Today’s cars in some cases could only need a software update instead of expensive repair which could still not repair your car by replacing parts.

After much consideration, we have reopened for business for all essential services. As you can see we have taken safety precautions, enhanced cleaning/ sanitization and we no longer are offering our waiting room, it will be closed until further notice. We currently run by appointment ONLY, please call ahead and schedule an appointment.... When dropping off your car, you must turn blower motor off (AC/heat) and wheel lock nut must be present in either the passenger seat or the cup holder if you are coming in to change your tires. We will not be searching the car for the wheel lock as we want to minimize the exposure the best we can. Only one customer allowed in the shop at a time. We have signs on our door, please peek inside to see if anyone is inside as we will not have anyone controlling traffic at the door. This is to ensure we are socially distancing and keeping customers and staff as safe as possible. Please drop off cars in the morning only. We have a big problem city wide with catalytic converters being cut out of vehicles in parking lots and mountain auto tech will not assume responsibility if you drop your vehicle the night before to be serviced. As always, please stay safe and help flatten the curve. We are not sure when we will be able to continue business as usual but for the time being we have made adjustments and will continue to make any adjustments necessary putting safety of our staff and customers first.

A 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser came to our shop with a timing problem. We opened up the engine to inspect the timing. It was discovered that one chain tensioner on the camshaft was broken. We replaced the complete timing kit along with some other repairs that our customer requested. According to the amount of timing repairs we do, it’s worth it to invest a little more on your oil changes and use high quality oil instead of looking for a cheaper alternative which may be lower in quality. It may cost you more in the long run. At the shop, we carry a synthetic oil brand called Liqui Moly. It is made in Germany and so far it is working in our customer’s cars without any issues.

A 2007 BMW 525 came to our shop with engine noise. We performed a diagnostic and opened up the valve cover. When the valve cover was lifted, we discovered the camshaft was worn down. A brand new camshaft is expensive. We imported a complete head from Nova Scotia, the donor car had only 50 000 km. We replaced the push rods and the camshaft. After the repair was completed, the engine now runs quiet as if it were brand new.
