Mt. Lorne Volunteer Fire Department 26.01.2021

Fun training tonight at the hall. The primary objective was to run both our pumps including the Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS) on the pumper, command and control, and rapid activation of the team. All the boxes got checked tonight including introducing the hall and our team to three new recruits.

Yesterday was a special day for Mt. Lorne Volunteer Fire Department... It it's our 25th Anniversary! The Mount Lorne Firehall officially opened on January 12, 1996 after years planning between community members, the Mount Lorne Fire Department Society and Yukon Government. When the hall opened in 1996 there was a small group of volunteers equipped with a 1977 Ford Cabover with an 800-gallon tank and a 125 HP pump. Over the years we have seen changes in both the equipment and volunteers. Twenty-five years later and we now have 14 volunteers on our roster, at various levels of training, a 2008 pumper, a 2016 tender and a Ford 250 44 quick response truck. Stay tuned this year as we work on our 25th Anniversary celebration plans and share more photos from the past!

We just wrapped up our last training night of 2020! This past year was tough in a lot of ways but we want to highlight some of the hard work our volunteers have put in and fun that we've had together in the past year. Please enjoy our 2020 Year in Photos! Thank you Mt. Lorne volunteers and community for your continued support. We look forward to more training, learning and fun together in 2021.

A couple weeks ago we found out the Jerusalema Dance Challenge. The Guardian described it as "a song from South Africa that has gone around the world and been endorsed by presidents and priests has become the sound of the pandemic for millions across southern Africa." Not ones to be left out of some global fun, a group of Mt. Lorne Firefighters got together on Sunday to record our own video. We hope it brings you joy during this pandemic! Let us know you think! Thank you to M...t. Lorne community member and long-time Fire Department supporter Al Foster for giving us the idea, filming and editing this video and to Teagan for filming as well!
