Mount Pearl Minor Hockey would like to congratulate members Jesse Sutton, Pierce Halliday, Adam Nolan, and Andrew Murphy on their selection to the Hockey NL Under 16 Provincial Team. This team will compete in the Quebec Major junior Hockey League Gold Cup in Blainville-Brosbriand, Quebec from April 30-May 3. In addition to the players, MPMHA will also be represented by Mike Scott (Director of Operations), Kris Abbott (Assistant Coach), Trevor Budgell (Assistant Coach) & David Roper (Equipment Manager) at the event. The ordeal at the Glacier is finally over and MPMHA programs are back on schedule effective immediately. We appreciate your patience throughout the shut down phase and thank you in advance for being patient as we do our best to reschedule the over 90 hours of lost ice time. Efforts to secure the part needed to fix the ongoing issues at The Glacier for this weekend have failed. Therefore the building will remain closed all day Saturday and Sunday with an update to come on Monday morning. The City Of Mount Pearl has notified us that the rink will remain closed until AT LEAST 3 PM SATURDAY. A further update will come at noon Saturday. Any activities originally scheduled for before 3PM are now postponed and will be rescheduled. Below is the statement from the City of Mount Pearl website issued Wednesday: "The Glacier Arenas will remain closed due to damages to the fire suppression system caused as a result of power outages. A progress update will be provided tomorrow." All scheduled activities for Thursday will be rescheduled and we will update everyone on Friday once we know the status.... Glacier Update Tuesday, January 7th - 8:16 PM Wednesday Jan 8, 2014 Mount Pearl Minor Hockey and The Glacier Facility will remain CLOSED on Wednesday, January 8th at the request of the Government and Newfoundland Power. The Glacier's electrical system also sustained some damage during the blackout and is under repair.... All scheduled activities for Wednesday will be rescheduled and we will update everyone tomorrow once we know the status of Thursday. Energy Conservation Update, January 6th - 9:30 AM Monday Jan 6, 2014 Mount Pearl Minor Hockey and The Glacier Facility are now closed, effective immediately, until at least Wednesday morning. Government has approached Hockey NL and its members to help lead the conservation effort throughout the province. Hockey NL President Jack Lee issued a call to action to Associations early this morning and the Mount Pearl Minor Hockey Association will heed the advice to cease operations ...for two days. Concurrently, the City of Mount Pearl has ordered all recreation facilities closed until Wednesday. Hockey NL, Mount Pearl Minor Hockey, The City of Mount Pearl, and The Glacier wish for all members to stay warm, stay safe, and make sure to check on neighbors and relatives.
