Thank you Ches Crosbie for your unwavering support to the PC Party of Newfoundland & Labrador over the last several years as leader. Thank you personally for t...he encouragement I needed to take the leap and join the team as a candidate this time around. Your honest, sincere words were the push I needed to jump in with two feet, and it’s been life changing for me - so thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mr. Crosbie’s support throughout the campaign not only to me and my team, but to all of our candidates was second to none. His commitment to this province is admirable. He is a kind, honest, supportive person and friend. Thank you for your service as leader and all the best in your political retirement!

Trying to find your way in this weird and wonderful political world is a strange journey. It’s often riddled with an overwhelming mix of duty, optimism, plannin...g and surprise. In 2019, the writ was dropped heading into Easter Weekend and a critical juncture that would change the trajectory of the rest of my life. This night pictured here, I had the honour of introducing Ches Crosbie as we all gathered together for the sudden news that an election was upon us. For weeks leading up to this moment, I had met with Ches and others, tirelessly fleshing out and weighing in on parts of the forthcoming PC Policy Blue Book. That Blue Book was the first time the party had acknowledged and committed to the pressing importance of quality, affordable childcare in this province. Not once did I feel like this policy was to appease me. Ches was very clear that as leader, this was as important to him as it was to me and that marked the beginning of robust discussion of $25 a day daycare. That discussion reverberated throughout this province. It was presented as powerful, credible and necessary. Long after the election, members of Ches’s caucus continued to present petitions in the house on the policy. This past January, $25 a day was implemented by governmentarguably the biggest social and economic policy introduction in the last decade. It is in no small part because Ches made space for an unknown advocate to get on a soap box with an entire party behind her and providing myself and others with the encouragement and platform to sustain that passion for families who desperately needed a voice. For years, many advocates engaged in work to advance affordable childcare, but I’d like to think 2019 was a tipping point. In the last two years, I have had many conversations with Ches. It wasn’t unusual to receive an email or a call asking what my thoughts were on democratic reform, violence against women, how families and parents were faring during the pandemic and next steps on furthering early childhood education. Ches never asked with the intention to counter with his own perspectivemy thoughts were always met with So what I’m hearing is x is a concern, and you feel x. In meetings he referred to me as his colleague and he went out of his way to ask me to speak. A true leader makes you feel respected, worthy and seen. Ches was all this and more and I can’t emphasize how his quiet compassion and intellectual empathy always made one feel that he was reaching out not of obligation, but dedication. I wish Ches and his family a world of success and happiness in his political retirement. He will be remembered most fiercely and appreciatively by those who were in the arena with him, and those who were welcomed to join the fight. PC Party of Newfoundland & Labrador owes a debt of gratitude to a wonderful statesman whose comedy, wit and drive were second to none.

While many things feel like they are up in the air, it’s your words of encouragement, your support, and your faith in our Progressive Conservative vision for Ne...wfoundland and Labrador that’s kept us grounded. There’s no doubt that the legitimacy of this election is in question. But one thing is clear we would not be where we are today without YOU. It has been a long road, and PC supporters, voters, and volunteers across our province have made all the difference. THAT’S for certain. And for that, we say... THANK YOU. #BringBackJobs #LetsGetToWork #PCNL #NLpoli

It’s a simple formula LOWER TAXES, MORE JOBS! A PC Government will: 1. Enact a Hiring Tax Credit to allow businesses to hire more; ... 2. Encourage business owners to hire more by reducing payroll tax; 3. Provide a relocation tax credit to make it easier for job creators to attract talent from across the world. So let’s go. Let’s get to work! #BringBackJobs #LetsGetToWork #PCNL #NLpoli
