According to Stats Canada, 8.2 per cent of Canadians were employed in piece work, or gigs, in 2016. So what’s the gig deal? A lot of people are starting to see that their skills don’t have to go through a company to find value. People are starting to take the reins themselves, says Mackenzie Bedford, MRU alumna and founder of Bedford Creative. The gig economy allows people to be autonomous, test their expertise and manage their own motivation. But it also comes with a sid...e of risk and uncertainty.
