Emotions are necessary, they are how we feel and experience the world. They teach us where we are at and where we want to be. The challenge is managing our emotions so we can stay on the path we choose without getting attached to how we think things should be. ... What is celebration? For me it is about joy, it is about celebrating life and taking the opportunity to reflect, share, and connect with others. At this time of year, in our home, we celebrate Christmas. ... However I am also curious and grateful to learn about other traditions that are also being celebrated around this time of year. Hanukkah is a Jewish celebration of light. My favourite part when my kids were younger was the ritual of lighting the candles at sunset and then giving each child one gift per night (8 presents each, one per night). We start the day with cleaning the house and removing and donating things we don't need. My favourite part is dressing up for Diwali dinner with puja (prayer) to follow. We pray to the goddess of wealth (Laxmi) to come and bless us. Thank you to Eileen and my friends in India for sharing these moments with me How do you celebrate?

How does the snow (sun or rain, depending where you are in the world) feel on your face? We experience the world through our senses and at times my eyes can be over stimulated. There is so much to look look at during the holiday season, from the lights to the hustle and bustle... ... I love to close my eyes amongst the action and to utilize my other senses. What can you hear? What can you touch? What can you taste? What can you smell? Going inwards gives me time to withdraw and re-align with the big picture. It gives me a moment to re-evaluate my senses as an opportunity to experience life oppose to being controlled by it. Yoga reminded me how to be playful in life. I believe there are many people that view Yoga as strenuous and too hard for them to do. If this is you, I want to share that Yoga is a practise that has several options... ... It is an applied science that meets you where you are at in your mind and body. When challenge shows up in my life, I don’t always know what to do right away, but I have learned to play with my options by engaging my mind and body. Sometimes it’s laughter that helps Sometimes it’s rest Sometimes it is a posture practice What I do know is that I don’t have to stay in the suffering. The greatest lesson that I have learned through Yoga is that ‘Life can be hard, but suffering is an option.’ Wishing you some laughter, rest, or movement today xo #silversister #goinggray #thisis45 #midlifestyle #mindsetcoach #mindset #freetobeme #silverhairtransition #middleagedwoman #growingup #midlifewomen #bestrong #befearless #beyou #confident #over40 #midlifewomen #sisterhood #naturalwomen See more

Today I would like to celebrate this beautiful soul whose service to others has inspired me this holiday season. Not only does she make the best peanut butter cookies, but she bakes them from the heart with the intention to share with others!!! Karma Yoga means doing work with total devotion without focusing on the fruit of one’s actions. ... Darlene and several others who she volunteers with contribute their time and effort to help with poverty and social dislocation in their local community. When I came to Yoga I felt broken. I had no idea what Yoga was, but I saw an ad and I thought I would give it a try. What I found was myself!!... Each one of us a story that we build upon in our life. We learn how survive in our environments, how to arrive in our identity based on what we have been taught, and we try our best to thrive as the person we think we are suppose to be. Sometimes it’s enough and sometimes it’s not. For me, it wasn’t and I wanted to know who I truly am. And so the adventure began... Through the practice of Yoga I learned that it is my mind that keeps me stuck in who I think I should be and my body that knows the truth... Postures (Asanas) are one way that I explore my embodiment: how I feel, what I know/ want, trust. Here is an example. Warrior One: The courage to step into the unknown, to stand strong in the battle of reaction, distraction, and escapism. To trust that whatever it is that you don’t know is your gift to learn who you are and why you are here. Try out this posture today: Stand with feet one foot part. Step one foot back, placing your foot at a 45 degree angle. Turn your hips to face forward. Inhale your arms over head. Bend the front knee slightly. Relax the shoulders and breath into your power, your strength to move forward. Switch sides Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Serenity Prayer Love Tracey #silversister #goinggray #thisis45 #midlifestyle #mindsetcoach #mindset #freetobeme #silverhairtransition #middleagedwoman #growingup #midlifewomen #bestrong #befearless #beyou #confident #over40 #midlifewomen #sisterhood #naturalwomen See more

Life can be hard, but suffering is an option. This is the wisdom of Classical Yoga. I have learned through the philosophy and practice of Yoga to pause and check in with where I am at when I am feeling off centre.... These are the three questions that I use to discover my balance and the ones I share with my students, so they can discover theirs: Where am I at? What are my options? Who do I choose to be? If you feel out of balance and would like support, I would be happy to move through these questions with you. Message me for a free discovery call See more

‘We do not learn from experiencewe learn from reflecting on experience.’ John Dewey Recently I was asked to explore this question, ‘Who Am I?’, and this is what poured out. I am adventure. I am playfulness. I am joy.... I had forgotten the impact that those words had on my heart and I was very grateful for the question. There was a time when I felt very detached from the world. My bubble was small, and I didn’t feel like I had options to live the life I truly desired. Travel abroad changed my life. It opened me up to a world of difference & choice where I could see myself as more than a shy little girl with big ideas trapped in her body. I learned to see the world anew. I learned to change my perspective on possibilities. I set out on a mission to share this feeling with everyone I could by educating myself further. When I returned home to study, my passion faded. I felt forced back into the the bubble that I felt as a child. I felt stuck and I withdrew once again. I love people and I love life. HOWEVER, I lost my passion for adventure, playfulness, and joy. For years I have been peeling back the layers that kept me stuck trying to be the person I thought I was suppose to be. As a traveler, I felt free. At home, I felt claustrophobic What I know today, and was reminded of with this question, is that it doesn’t matter where you are, you are only confined if you choose to be. So, Who Am I? I am adventure. I am playfulness. I am joy. And I am here to live and learn through change, challenges, and every opportunity I get to live the life I truly desire, no matter where I am in the world. What about you? Tracey xo

Hi I’m Tracey and I LOVE learning!! One of the things that I am most grateful for today is my curious nature. Have you ever had that thought ‘i just have to get through this and then I can relax...’ Do you know that feeling? It’s a feeling of holding on until the moment when you can ‘let go of all the things you think you need to do or have. ... I had many of those moments...I was always just trying to get through life and what I thought I needed...and what I knew as relaxation was really just a variety of unhealthy habits that I used to switch off from my life. In Yoga, I have learned to breath into all moments, whether I consider them good or bad situations. I have learned that relaxation is a choice available to me at all times. For a long time, I was last on my 'to-do list'. I was always worrying about other people and what they needed. I felt like I didn't have a right to take time for myself and when I did take time, I felt guilt and shame. Eventually, this way of being caught up with me - my mind was overwhelmed and my body was exhausted. ... I had to change my perspective and realize my priority. By the nature of my body's basic physiological needs that must be met, I realized my priority, and I also realized that the quality that I placed on those needs, was a choice that affected my life. The question then became, what quality of life do I truly desire? When I accepted this question, I realized my priority was an opportunity to discover balance in my life... As a result: *I gained a healthier perspective of my life *I gained genuine connections in my relationships *I gained acceptance of myself and the life I truly desired And I'd love to share with you how! If being a priority in your life is a challenge, check out my FREE '3 Radicals Shifts To Be A Priority In Your Life' webinar where I share with you how I reduced the overwhelm, stress, and expectations in my life, by changing my perspective on priority. https://movebytraceymcdonald.ca/shift-into-your-life I hope to see you there. Slow and steady wins the race.... the human race. It is my belief that as a collective we are here to be in the process of movement, living and learning. Sometimes the road can seem full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and sometimes straight, but when we slow down and observe what we see (think, feel), the experience becomes more important than the physical road itself

For me life hasn’t been a straight line and I am sure many of you can identify. What I love about having a direction oppose to strict rules, potentially inflexible goals, is that it gives me room to play, to sit in discomfort, to question good/ bad, right/ wrong, to reflect on what I want next.
