Recently we were requested to compute spatiotemporal parameters for a walking task in different software applications. One of these applications has a user interface, others are embedded in scripting environments. Does that mean we had to implement it several times? Of course not! Thanks to our software development libraries, we implement the required computations once in a plugin which extends applications' capabilities. Developers only needed to call these commands to get a...ccess to the parameters of interest. Depending on the application, the results were exported to an output file or in a workspace. This solution has the advantages to reduce development cost (programming, verification, debugging, integration) and largely simplify the integration of new algorithms. #software #biomechanics #gaitanalysis

We had a nice discussion few days ago to see if one of our tools will be able to generate results for different research centres using different instruments (mocap, EMG, force platforms) executed in different environments (Python, Matlab) but realizing the same computation (signal processing, biomechanical model, events detection, outcomes). From multidimensional raw data processing to multi-scale data analysis, the trip can be a real nightmare to compute outcomes in motion analysis. Occluded markers? False detected events ? Fourth part from Biomechanical ToolKit to Moveck Solution inc. While the projects Biomechanical ToolKit and Mokka started as a hobby, the number of features increased as well as the number of users and their requests. Starting in 2013, the main developer though about the sustainability of these projects due to new personal and professional challenges. Different approaches were investigated (special thanks to several users who helped to answer questions, to write the documen...tation of Mokka, present the project during conferences and more). In November 2015, the company Solution Moveck Inc. was funded to work on these projects with a professional support. With a growing community, companies interested in the projects, new ideas for the developments, and the first service to pay the expenses of the company, the launch was a success! #biomechanics #motionanalysis #entrepreneurship

Moveck is 5 years old! Funded in November 2015, it was barely to continue the development of software libraries related to motion capture and biomechanics. In 2018, our objectives evolved to go further on the understanding of the human motion and help institutions to accelerate their research and development.
