Joey and Chet were very happy to see me today. They were both full of energy and ready to walk. They were excited to go for a car ride and go see Sugar for a pack walk. Joey loved chasing squirrels and birds and playing chase with Sugar. Chet loved chasing squirrels and birds and trying to eat sticks.... After a long tiring walk both Joey and Chet wanted to go home and play chase in the backyard. Both Joey and Chet behaved very well. Happy Saturday! www.moveyourdoggie.ca

Sandy was happy to see me today. Aaron joined us on our walk today. I learned a lot about submission in dogs and following through on a proper sit but following through all the way before giving less tension on the leash. I find that if you over think on your time and movement then it gives the dog hesitation and unsureness of what you’re asking them to do. Tons of information I took from this walk and will definitely be applying to future walks to improve on. Thanks A...aron for joining Sandy and I. www.moveyourdoggie.ca See more

The Move Your Doggie team is now officially trained on COVID-19 best practices for Dog Walkers and Pet Sitters. As a member of Pet Sitters International we have access to the most comprehensive pet-sitter business and educational tools and resources in the industry, which are used to educate and inform the team. During our most recent virtual, team meeting we covered COVID-19 best practices such as symptoms, how the virus spreads to both people and pets, and safety protocol...s. We also had our Team Leader and Trainer, Aaron, do a team training session discussing the basics about leash etiquette, how to properly wield the leash, and how to use the leash as a tool to build a relationship with the dog. Did you know that improving your communication through the leash helps the dog to understand what you’re asking them to do? Lastly, Walker/Sitter Aerin shared with the team what she recently learned in an online course offered by Walks ‘N Wags Pet First Aid called Off the Grid. This course discussed what to do if your dog is injured and Veterinary care is not readily available. A great supplemental course to any Pet First Aid and CPR training! At Move Your Doggie it’s our mission to enrich the lives of pets and their families. We do this, not only through our natural love and passion for pets, but also by providing added value through continuous education and being the best in the industry. A very important thing to understand is your pet’s vaccination schedule. I know, many people are on the fence when it comes to vaccinating their pets, and that’s ok. Your pet should at least have the minimum which is required by law, the Rabies vaccine. Your veterinarian will definitely guide you through your puppy’s vaccination schedule, but here I will give you a general idea of what to expect. Read more... https://buff.ly/308QaBF

People have found themselves with more time to welcome a new dog into the home. They don’t have the pressures of time, deadlines and places to be. We've launched Your Perfect Pet Consulting Service! The love of a new furry companion has even caused people to reflect on what’s most important to them. However, a new dog may come with some challenges.... Here are some useful tips to help the newest member of your family feel right at home. 1. Create a Safe Space: Give your dog a confinement area when you first bring her home. This will help her to ease in to the new environment while having a place to feel safe. It will also help to reduce anxiety. Too often, people want to give their new dog the run of the house right away. Then, one day they come home to find that she has chewed the baseboards, their favourite pair of shoes or the leather couch. Then that is when they decide that they have to confine the dog. The problem with this is that now she will see the confinement as a punishment rather than her area where she can go to relax. The confined area is supposed to be a place where she feels safe, or just a place to have some alone time. Confining your dog after she has already caused some destruction, will send a negative message as opposed to a positive one. For puppies, be sure to leave toys and some pee pads in the confined area for the puppy to use so that you don’t come back to an unwanted surprise. It is also best to puppy-proof your house, which means removing anything that can be destroyed by chewing. Consider installing baby gates to keep puppy safe.
