It's officially the holidays and I'm planning on supporting local businesses by shopping locally this weekend. Supporting our community helps our local families, economy ...and our local real estate! For me, it means I'm starting my day at @buddhabelly.bakery for a coffee and snack, then heading over to @petit.nordique for a few Christmas gifts. And finally, I plan on wrapping up my day at @oldnewcastlehouse to enjoy some amazing food (and maybe a malty beverage). I'm going... to finish up this day by watching one of our favorite local businesses, @little.buck.shop debut on Canadas own, Dragons Den!! The craziest stat for Durham Region thats glaring to me, is 104% of sale price over list price, on average...which means almost all Properites are currently selling over asking. ... This stat leads all of GTA markets with regards to sale prices. Durham is the hottest and most desirable market in the GTA and low inventory is continuing to fuel the competition. The Durham Region Association of REALTORS (DRAR) President Michael Watson reported 1,088 residential transactions in November 2020 representing a 25 per cent increase from November 2019. The number of new listings in Durham reached 1,042 with the average price in Durham at $762,739 last month. The average selling price increased by 25 per cent compared to the average price in November 2019. The MLS Home Price Index Benchmark Price in Durham Region was $691,000, a 19.91 per cent increase from the previous year. The Benchmark Price for a single-family detached home in Oshawa was $629,800. The very active and record-setting Real Estate Market continues!! Toronto Regional Real Estate Board President Lisa Patel announced that sales reported through TRREB’s MLS System by Greater Toronto Area REALTORS amounted to 11,083 a new... record for the month of September. This result was up by 42.3 per cent compared to September 2019. Following a record third quarter, sales through the first nine months of 2020 were up by approximately one per cent compared to the same period in 2019. Improving economic conditions and extremely low borrowing costs sustained record-level sales in September, as we continued to account for the substantial amount of pent-up demand that resulted from the spring downturn. Further improvements in the economy, including job growth, would support strong home sales moving forward. However, it will be important to monitor the trajectory of COVID-19 cases, the related government policy response, and the impact on jobs and consumer confidence, said Ms. Patel.
