A statement from David Whitmey: In response to the systemic discrimination ingrained in the film/TV industry in Vancouver, I will not be submitting the clients of Moving Pictures Talent & Entertainment Group to projects and networks who’s values promote inequality in any way. Currently this includes the majority of MOWs produced in Vancouver. This agency does not tolerate the consistent casting of lead and supporting roles to white talent only, the obvious refusal of inter-r...acial casting for characters in romantic relationships, and a complete dismissal of the LGBTQ community. Black Lives Matter. LGBTQ lives matter. Divisiveness, racism, homophobia, segregation and white superiority depicted in quaint bookstores, bakeries and flower shops must end. The promotion of pale values through boring, bland storytelling must end. I challenge our industry to create better content through inclusive writing and casting. I challenge all Talent Agencies in British Columbia to stand with me in this policy. I challenge all performers to encourage their representatives to join me in this movement.
