Approach your exercises with focus. With intent. When you walk up to the bar..ask yourself.. am I approaching this with focus? Am I really giving this my 100% attention? Then start from the floor and work your way up. Check your foot position and weight distribution. Stabilize yourself. Adjust your grip. ... You'll then move your mentality from asking the question, to having the answer. You're focused. You're in it. I can guarantee if you do this, you'll feel each rep a whole lot more. I was just watching a video about training. Milos Sarcev, a very successful bodybuilder from the 80s and 90s, now a very successful coach, was speaking about some cable flys for chest..about finding the form to make it the most difficult to perform. It made me think..its funny how we see training as the goal being making your training more difficult..pushing yourself to failure..instead of taking the easy road. No difficulty, no results. This is how we should view all of our ...goals, in and out of the gym. Don't you always feel great after a hard workout? What about after achieving a difficult goal? Receiving your degree? Landing that job you've been going after? Building or renovating something? Anything. Feels good, right? If it was easy, anyone would do it. (Oh, and tip from the trainer..push out your chest on chest exercises! Don't let your chest cave in. It puts strain on your AC joint, and you won't activate your chest nearly as much.) Hey Moxham Fitness, we have some news for you! "I've been a member at Moxham Fitness essentially since I was 18 years old. Moxham Fitness means a lot to me, and I've found my own ways to give back in the last couple of years. My training experience includes a wide array of both strength and conditioning and endurance training. I am excited to bring this experience to Moxham Fitness as a personal trainer!... I have trained at the Atlantic Police Academy, graduating from the Correctional Officer program, and was awarded Best All-Around Cadet, Squad 38. I have also graduated from DiveSafe International's commercial diving program and I am now actively working on my Dive Supervisor certification as well. Diving is my day job. I currently own CDMS Atlantic based our of Sydport. Actually, I've been a diver my entire life. I've written articles for magazines regarding physical fitness for diving, and have based some of my training programs around increasing performance as a diver. My 5 days a week in the gym lifting is where my true passion is for fitness, however. I hope to extend that knowledge to our current and future members! I also co-own Skip The Kitchen on Keltic Drive, which has helped my training progress tremendously over the last few years. This will also allow me to provide meals for my clients who may look to take advantage of this service. Without proper nutrition, there is no progression in training! I'm currently working on the ISSA Nutrition Specialist course as well. The ISSA Personal Training certification is a course that I have wanted to do for a few years now. It has increased my knowledge base and has allowed me to develop specific training programs based on individual goals, and to reach those goals by providing guidance, accountability, and continued progress from one goal to the next!
