We had some sad news this week. Our dear friend and supplier Margaret was in a Bodaboda accident. She is recovering but her leg was cut and she tore the muscles and tendons ( it looks a mess ) We also lost the gentleman who trained the women on the charcoal machine we purchased. he too was in a bodaboda accident. There have been so many challenges this year. Yesterday I was so happy to sent a little money for our Omwana box project and then I got this news soon after. It’s li...ke a huge roller coaster. Please pray for our Moyaa family....we need it. Bodabodas are a popular means of transportation and employment in Uganda and with the lack of a mass transit system this unfortunately is a very common occurrence. Business meetings look different at Moyaa. Whether we are in Africa or connecting in the States to train at the ASBI or calling at midnight because of an 8 hour time difference, coordinating half ton shipments by phone, text and email we are getting stuff done!! This is some of the hardest, frustrating work Ive ever done and you know what? I love it!! Why? because I get messages from customers grateful for a clean natural product that works! I see little girls allowed the op...portunity to go to school! I see women empowered to have dignified work that pays them fairly and a future generation that values the Shea trees instead of chopping them down for charcoal. I dont know what Im doing half the time Im learning every single day! The mistakes are many and the victories are sometimes not measured in profit but Im so grateful that together with my customers we can make a difference in peoples lives. Thats success. See more

My youngest son is starting university in a few weeks He will be staying in residence and participating in online courses and small group seminars. This is so different from how he imagined his first year but he is excited to still be able to live at school and use the resources that we just dont have here in our rural area. Im experiencing all the emotions right now. My apologies because I will be talking about this some more as we get closer. You see I have 5 sons ( ver...y busy household) and in three short weeks we will become empty nesters! Son # 2 is moving for work ( and love) to Thunder Bay. Son # 4 is returning to Laurier University for his 4th year and son #5 is going to Queens University. I feel so many things but I feel confident that we have prepared the boys for independence and success. They will always have our support but they have the tools necessary to make it on their own. Oh and hey it doesnt hurt that they will also have smooth clean skin as well. My sons absolutely love Moyaa soap and butter. Hello August!! We have big plans BUT this is a hard month for me personally so its also going to be a month of a little more family time. You see Im about to experience something big. In 4 short weeks we will become EMPTY NESTERS . I really cant believe it. 5 sons successfully launched into the world. My husband and I have mixed feelings we are excited, proud and happy but sad as well. Three of our kids will be 2 , 4 and 18 hour drives away. This is a first for us to have... them so scattered beyond a summer job and although two sons live close we are all used to constant visits and chaos and we all love it. So Im going to take some time this month to embrace every moment and to savour having everyone close by ( well when one returns this month from working in New Brunswick) I still cant believe my baby is going to Queens University!! And one baby is entering his last year of university. One is moving to Thunder Bay ! One just got a promotion and one is having another baby. (Long sigh) All you mammas its so true what they say time flies. Hold those babies tight. Any advice for this stage of life?
