This article may be a few years old, but the advice about what to say and what NOT to say to a child or teen struggling with their emotions or their mental health is solid. Definitely worth the read on this National Child and Youth Mental Health Day! https://www.cbc.ca//guide-parents-say-child-mental-health-

Our Supportive Independent Living Workshops are both for teaching life skills and fun Last Monday we held a paint night workshop guided by Michelle on YouTube. The youth were able to express their creativity, build confidence, and create a masterpiece while safe physical distancing. Tis the season to let it snow!

Remember to always find the silver linings in the clouds - and as the weather gets colder, we’re grateful to have this little slice of the sky in our office Even though we’ve had to adapt a lot this year, we still have an amazing team of caring, competent, earnest professionals who are making a positive mark on the people they work with each day. We couldn’t do what we do without their diligence, passion and dedication. What are you grateful for?

Way back at the end of August, six of the girls from our Supported Independent Living program took part in a Girls Day Out This year they decided to try a Zumba class at Bliss Be Fit and we all agreed that the music, motivational gift bags, nachos and wings at Boston Pizza made for a fun day out while we tried something new!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Although this year looks a little different than most, there really is always something to be grateful for. Did you know that having an attitude of gratitude actually has proven scientific benefits? They include:... -opens the door to more relationships -improves physical health -improves psychological health -enhances empathy and reduces aggression -improves self-esteem -increases mental strength -grateful people sleep better We're grateful for the amazing community here in GP that supports our work, to live in Canada and everything that being Canadian means, and for apple pie. What are you most grateful for this year?

On this #WorldMentalHealthDay, especially as we continue to navigate a pandemic, we encourage everyone to open up about how they’re really feeling when someone asks how they’re doing. Because there’s something to be said for keeping things real. The more we talk about how we’re really doing when someone asks, the more relatable we become to others. So, how are you doing? Really? https://www.newswire.ca//canadians-mental-health-declines-

Boundaries are so important, but it takes practice and time to get comfortable using them. We love this graphic from Mellow Doodles with examples of boundary setting. If reading them makes you feel uncomfortable, it’s probably an indicator that you need more practice in setting them and most of us do!
