Oscar Peterson is one of the world’s most recorded and celebrated jazz musicians. From Montreal to Carnegie Hall - and beyond, he entertained hundreds of thousands of fans. This Black History Month, let’s celebrate his unique talent and lasting legacy with this new #HeritageMinute. Historica Canada.
There is no situation more pressing for our government than ensuring all Canadians have access to vaccines against COVID-19. Deliveries of COVID-19 vaccine doses to Canada are set to more than quadruple next week. In the meantime, stay home except for essential travels, exercise walks and work. Follow the requirements of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit. Stay safe!
Fifty-six years ago today, our Red and White maple leaf flag was flown for the first time across Canada. #FlagDay
Happy Family Day! Enjoy the warm love near and far.
Should we leave production of vaccine to the free market? My recent intervention at the health committee meeting.
Recently, we've helped nearly 800,000 businesses to stay open across Canada. To help Canadian businesses succeed and keep their staff employed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the federal government extended the Canada Emergency Business Account in October. This has helped nearly 800,000 businesses keep their doors open and keep their staff on the payroll. As business owners across Canada face further restrictions and closures, this program will help more businesses deal with p...andemic-related costs such as paying higher utility bills and purchasing PPE to keep their customers and staff safe. Please, for everyone's safety, download the Canada Covid app here: https://www.canada.ca//coronavirus-disea/covid-alert.html
Another vote of confidence.
Canada Revenue Agency/ Agence du revenu du Canada opens applications for the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS). These organizations can now apply directly for the subsidy for the period from September 27 to October 24, 2020, through the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) My Business Account or Represent Client portals. Applications for the second C...ERS period (October 25 to November 21, 2020) will open on November 30. Contact my office if you need assistance. Please call ahead to make an appointment. To support Canadian businesses during this second wave and ensure their future success, we’ve introduced: The Canada Emergency Wage subsidy (CEWS); The Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS);... The Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA); The Regional Relief and Recovery Fund (RRF); Supports for Indigenous Businesses; The Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES); and The Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP). While the road to recovery may not be easy, these supports will be critical to help entrepreneurs survive and prevent businesses across Canada from closing their doors.
This little gaffer needs a stem cell transplant asap, or he will die. Because he is mixed-race (Filipino/ Caucasian), finding a genetically compatible recipient is much harder than with those, who are not of mixed-race descent. As a father of 3 kids who share a similar ethnic background, one of whom is his age, I really feel for the little guy and his family. If you know of interested donors, please contact Sarah Jasmins at Canadian Blood Services asap (email [email protected])
Marie Klassen, Lakehead Social Planning Council, congratulations on the national recognition of 211 Ontario North, your hard work paid off.
It’s timely that it is #NationalChildDay because our government yesterday tabled legislation to keep Canada on track to net-zero emissions by 2050. Our kids deserve a healthy future with clean air and water.
