Please join us as we wish Police Service Dog Deny a happy retirement after nearly 7 years of service. PSD Deny started his RCMP career in Red Deer, Alberta. Wit...h his signature floppy ears and loud disposition, he used his high energy to assist in search and rescue operations for missing persons, and helped capture numerous suspects involved in criminal activities. In May 2019, PSD Deny and Cpl Baxter transferred to Thompson, Manitoba where he continued his work as a police service dog. One particular memorable call for assistance was in Sundre, Alberta in April 2019. PDS Deny and his handler joined local search and rescue teams and the RCMP helicopter to search for a missing hunter who was three days overdue. Fearing the worst, the teams covered over 22 kilometers and successfully located the missing hunter, who was a little worse of wear but safe and sound. While he definitely loved his work, PSD Deny is also well-known to be a practical joker. On more than one occasion, he would remain deafly quiet until an unsuspecting officer came too close to his truck and would startle them with his deep ferocious bark. PSD Deny’s accomplishments cannot be overstated and his contribution to the RCMP is tremendous. He will be missed by his handler and all of those that worked with him. Thank you for your service PSD Deny! Happy retirement! : Serge Gouin/RCMP

It is with great sadness that the Abbotsford Police Department announces the death of our officer, friend and colleague, Constable Allan Young. Constable Youn...g passed away peacefully last night surrounded by those who love him. Constable Young was born and raised in Dumbarton, Scotland. At the age of 16, he entered the British Royal Navy as a Marine Engineering Mechanic, where he served until 1987. Allan immigrated to Canada in 1997 and joined the Toronto Police Service in 2000. On March 2, 2004, Allan proudly joined the Abbotsford Police Department. During his career in Abbotsford, he spent time in Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Unit. We are deeply saddened by the loss of our brother officer. His smile, personality and character cannot be replaced and will forever echo in our hallways. We extend a heart-felt thank you to our community for the support that we and Allan’s family have received.
