REPOST - because it was deleted 100 days until I do! (89 now) photo credit: @rawfootagephotography
I feel guilty more than ever before. People talk about experiencing this all the time, yet when it happens it's so hard to move past it. Social media fatigue, I know you have heard of it. We all have. Well, I have been experiencing it for a little while now and even writing this post feels like a chore.... Social media fatigue is defined as a user’s tendency to back away from social media participation when they become overwhelmed with information. And boy oh boy, am I ever overwhelmed. I feel guilty that I work all day and night with two jobs and don't spend enough time with my loved ones. I feel guilty when I watch a movie or go for a walk because I could be culling or editing a wedding/session. I feel guilty because I don't have enough time to show up on social media, write some engaging post or a cute reel for my audience. The list goes on, but you get the point.
Happy Monday! This last year, I have noticed how every day starts to feel the same. I don't know if it's because we are in a pandemic and in and out of lockdown or that it's as you grow and age your daily tasks and routine start to feel mundane. But, I know it is up to us as individuals to make the best of every day. What are some things you do when you need to brighten your day and feel energized again? A few things I have found helpful were going for a walk, bike ride or just getting my body moving. Whether it's a workout or just getting outside can make a huge difference.
Big brother on watch
REPOSTING - I apparently was in a Facebook page trial for my business and I noticed it was hiding a bunch of stuff so it switched it back to the classic version BUT by switching back it removed all my shared content for the last month or so I am just reposting it all now. Don't mind me :) Kicked off the first day of spring with a fun-loving engagement session with Mikayla and Pat! Double tap if you are excited for the 2021 wedding season to get underway!
Happy Friday! Haven’t shared any baby snuggles in a while. Thought it would be a perfect day to share. I have been feeling very disconnected from Instagram and knowing what to share. I feel drained, tired and uncertain of so many things, that trying to think of what to post feels out of reach most days. I think the universe is just telling me I needed to take a break and focus on my own mental health. Today I feel like trying harder though.... Tell me in the comments if there’s anything you’d like to see or know more about? I’d absolutely love to share more.
Take a look at all the joy and love that still existed in 2020 and became some of my favourite moments of the year. https://www.melissapushelberg.com/blog/2020-in-moments
Featured on the blog today is Stephanie and Jimmy’s Wedding at the Hollows Camp. I asked these two what were the three most important things to them as a couple while planning their wedding and coming in as number one on their list was CRAFT BEER! Ever since these two lived in Calgary together they have loved craft beer. Stephanie and Jimmy featured their two favourite breweries on tap, Flying Monkeys and Muskoka, and ordered their favourite sommelier glasses as party favours.... Oh! And they had some real hops, too...for decor and in the groomsmen's boutonnieres. Second on the list was their love for live music and dancing so they had to have a live band, of course! And finally, coming in as number three and my absolute favourite thing about their wedding was that they had Stephanie's Nana as the Flower Lady. Stephanie gets her green thumb from her Nana who is 91 and has taught her everything she knows about gardening and so they thought it was the perfect fit for her to be their flower girl. Stephanie’s Nana walked down the aisle ahead of Steph, throwing petals on the ground and at the guests! Ha Ha! It was seriously the best! Popping bottles and celebrating NYE and my 5 year anniversary with my love COVID style this year. Saying this year was a bit of a roller coaster feels like an understatement. This year was filled with so many lows, emotions and uncertainties, but there were also so many highs. Thank you so much to each and every one of you that I was able to work with this year, who supported me and encouraged me. You have truly proven that even in the worst of times, there is so much LOVE and joy in the world and even better you allowed me to capture it for you. Definitely feeling cautiously optimistic about 2021 but cheers to the New Year! Please remember to be kind to each other and stay safe!
Walking to the alter hand in hand. Rachel and Malcolm decided to have an intimate ceremony with just the two of them and then gathered with their closest friends and family after it was over. This was extra special to photograph and be a part of because my second shooter, Shelby and I were asked to be the witnesses. I really loved how intimate and unique this felt and I think we will see a lot more of these intimate weddings in 2021. I think a lot of us get swept up in Pinte...rest boards and decorations...I am guilty of it too! But, I think we should all take a moment to step back from those expectations, take a breath and remind ourselves that the most important part of a wedding is the love being celebrated and the people you choose to celebrate it with you! That the flowers are beautiful and the cake is delicious, but it’s the memories being made with the ones you love, the moments that make you tear up and your hearts beat a little faster, that really matter. See more
Cheers to the freaking weekend! I have my last wedding of the 2020 season today! Can't wait for Rachel & Malcolm's big day!
I had the best time hanging out with the Eros family last night. How fun are these piggyback races?
Fall Minis! 2 Spots left! Email [email protected] for more details or to book!
Yesterday's wedding was the dreamiest fall wedding! I might have got a wet foot for this shot but it was worth it Congratulations Jasmine & Jacob!
Yesterday, I documented Shelby and Grayson's engagement session on this beautiful property surrounded by all the amazing fall colours and wildflowers.
TONIGHT The fall colours are here! Tonight's engagement session with Marissa and Cody was soo good! I have never used this spot at Morrison Dam before for photos but it's a new favourite!
Well, the busy season is definitely here! I have had 4 sessions since Saturday and one more to go on Saturday! Had to share a sneak peek from Tuesday's family session! How cute is this little guy?! Those baby blues.
As a parent wanting family photos...I am sure your biggest concern is whether or not your child(ren) will cooperate and take good photos during your session. Am I right? My goal is to get the few photos off the bat where they are looking at the camera and smiling (if we are lucky) and then if they get bored or a little wild then we just go with it! Let their personalities shine! Engage with each other, run around, play! Group hug anyone?
I LOVE getting to work with repeat clients year after year! It feels like meeting up with old friends at this point with Chrisitan and Lisa! This time I was able to document Christian's whole family at the beautiful Civic Gardens.
It has been quite an exciting weekend for me and I haven't had a chance to post sneak peeks from the two family sessions I had. I met up with the Byran's family on Saturday morning in their dreamy backyard, about 12 hours before I got engaged! I had no idea what was coming!
After 2 rescheduled wedding dates she married her forever adventure partner, high school sweetheart and best friend.
Today will be spent smiling and reliving how absolutely PERFECT and MAGICAL yesterday's wedding was. Or how I expressed it yesterday 100 TIMES to these two was more like...."UMMM OKAAAAAYY" (only words I could say while FREAKING OUT) Congratulations Stephanie & Jimmy!
