Hello. I still exist and I still run! This was my view last night as I ran to Entrance Bay from home, meeting my family on the beach. I turned 40 last week. The number is psychologically challenging. The flipping of decades is an abrupt identity change. A man in his 40s is symbolically very different than a man in his 30s. It’s even an age group change for most races. I’m a happy 40 year old, although I think it will be a challenge to not let the number mess with my mind in some ways. I’m glad to have running, not as a way to escape or defy my age, but as a way of knowing I’m doing everything I can while I am able. I’m healthier and more fit than I’ve ever been in my life. I’m enjoying life more because of it.
