Our last Staff Feature Friday for Mr. Cake’s Daycare is truly the heart and soul of the daycare. Although Judy, has not worked with us for a quite a few months due to medical reasons, she had worked at Mr. Cake’s Daycare since 1981 and her kind heart is definitely missed! Judy began her lifelong journey as a childcare educator in the rooms and eventually through hard work and commitment, she worked her way up to the manger position. As manager, Judy made sure families were s...upported, children were well taken care of, daycare supplies and food were ordered, field trips were planned, financial affairs were looked after, staff were trained and provided guidance if needed and ensured Mr. Cake’s was a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all. You truly cannot put into words all the things Judy did for Mr. Cake’s Daycare over her many years of dedicated service. Judy kept Mr. Cake’s running so smoothly and upheld and its great reputation for all those years. Eventually, she moved to a part-time position supporting the staff and children in the rooms as an educator again and helping around the daycare with tasks such as folding laundry or sewing up well-loved dress up clothes that needed some mending. Judy loved to cook and bake and often brought in treats for the staff and children or treated the staff to a hot lunch. Judy was such a ray of sunshine that made Mr. Cake’s Daycare feel like a second home to all the staff and families throughout the years. We miss her and think about her often and the meaningful impact she had on our daycare.

Staff Feature Friday! Mr. Cake’s has a wonderful in-house chef, Beth, who prepares the children fresh and nutritious meals three times a day. Beth has been with Mr. Cake’s Daycare since the summer of 2019 and the daycare is so fortunate to have such a talented chef feeding all our growing children! Mr. Cake's Daycare knows that encouraging healthy eating habits is crucial for healthy future development. That is why we offer children healthy food options that will nurture the...ir bodies and fuel important brain development. The main goal of our daycare meal plan is to meet the child’s nutritional needs and create positive eating habits that will last a lifetime. We offer a 6-week menu plan that changes seasonally and update it 3 times a year to try new recipes. We try to introduce children to a variety of fruits and vegetables as well as vegetarian options and alternative protein sources. Beth also loves to incorporate some of our daycare families favourite meals that they make at home so our daycare truly feels like a home away from home experience for the children. Beth had two wonderful children of her own and her favourite time of year is Halloween!

Staff Feature Friday! Rose has worked with Mr. Cake’s Daycare since 1993! She spent majority of her childcare career in our infant room and toddler room. Rose has now stepped back a little and works part-time in the centre by supporting the rooms and staff in the mornings and mid-day if needed. She holds a Child Development Assistant certificate and has been invaluable to our daycare through all her years of hard work and dedication. When asked why she has stayed with Mr. C...ake's for so long, she has said that the children keep her young at heart and give her a meaningful purpose everyday. She loves coming in to work bright and early to greet the families and settle the children in to the morning routine. You can always find Rose cuddling a child while reading a book to them or singing children's nursery rhymes like "How much for that doggie in the window?" We can't thank Rose (or Rosie as the children call her) enough for all her hard work and years of amazing service. There is truly no one like Rose and Mr. Cake's wouldn't be the same daycare without her! Rose keeps busy on her days off with her two dogs, and two grandchildren. We love you Rose!
