Halloween is almost here if you watched my Driftwood Haunted House video - you may have heard my little story - I’m going to dress like an old lady and pick Max up from school - my mom did this to me and my sister when we were kids and we didn’t recognize her until she started laughing. I have a really good wig so we will see We had a blast with this pumpkin kitty class - and I feel like I went back to my roots with two of my favourite mediums - pastels and paint. With... a few new to the ArtHouse kiddos - it’s fun showing them how the pastels resists the paint. They also got a sneak of the Christmas art - oh lala - also all of which will be available on my YouTube channel if the class schedule does not work. I have some new designs - but am bringing back some classics to a new Christmas sweater design they are so cute!! Classes will be posted this week and I’m busy getting all my samples to show you what you can order for Christmas - mugs, magnets, ornaments and even glass cutting boards - it will look great with your kids art but I’m even going to try a cutting board with my moms handwritten recipes It’s going to get cute up in here

Christmas 2020 When everyone cooperates how can you pick just one. Halle woke up in a foul foul mood - cried the whole way there - but by some Christmas miracle she got in front of the camera and started hamming it up Max was his usual cheery self and Joyce made him feel like a star ... Catherine Ann Photography had a stunning set up and I loved how cozy and vintage it looked well done Joyce! ***Halle wearing mine and my sisters childhood dress another Christmas miracle considering she’s been boycotting dresses too.

These babies were bursting at the seams ... The Winter box is so stinking cute and I’ve already made arrangement to triple what I put out for Fall - I never like to say SOLD OUT - OK wait - yes I do but only once everyone has one The videos seem to be the piece of the puzzle I was missing - now you don’t have to read between the lines on my paper instructions - you get to do it right there with me I’m also figuring out shipping - that is such a big important piece to all this too. We had fun today! Its been awhile since Ive done an after school class and I like it! We were a smaller group. We had a few families stay home because they followed the Covid 19 checklist and that was A-Ok with me. Happy Thanksgiving If it’s not a mask hiding my face - it’s the wind blowing my hair all over the place On a regular year - I’m one of the lucky ones who gets to feel blessed with family, friends, a job, winning the geography lottery etc. etc.... This year I also get an inside look into what family dinner without your mom feels like - I know there are a lot of you missing someone special - and the best way to get through is to continue to enjoy those who are still here. Many people think their family is the best and I get to think that way too - not the best - perfect - the best for me Today we did something we’ve done many times before - headed to Williston to enjoy the scenery and collect driftwood. Halle loves the outdoors and Max has loved road trips for the car movies since he was her age This time - it was a little different. We were all pretty excited about how well the Fall box went and had a pep in our step looking for the perfect pieces for the Winter box. Our family is saving up for something special that we can all enjoy - so all this hard work is something we want to do! Thank you for trying something new and indulging my creative tendencies that seem to be on over drive Also can I take a minute to give major props to my sister and brother in law for being the meal makers many weekends in a row they literally are the BEST

These turkeys made Saturday’s class extra special - we baked up a storm and made a beautiful keepsake - that I hope comes out every Thanksgiving. These classes aren’t just about learning how to do something - they are also about sharing that learning with our family. How excited were these guys to be in charge of the dinner buns. Our buns may have been a little over worked they rose and then they fell again which made them a little small - but we had a great time learni...ng how to mix all those ingredients. Also the perfect part in my eyes is how much these kiddos get to see goes into creating meals. Let’s hope there’s an appreciation that goes beyond the automated Thanks! We also made a pretty delicious dessert that tastes just like pumpkin but doesn’t actually have pumpkin in it - perfect for anyone looking for pumpkin but can’t find any recipe in my stories shortly Happy Thanksgiving from one of the most grateful girls out there - I’m so happy to share time with you and your families creating memories and traditions one holiday at a time

RIP RBG - when I saw the CNN documentary two years ago featuring RBG I got a new hero - the trailer alone just reminded me why I looked up to her the minute I learned of her - I wanted to share it here with you but I dont know how - so look it up if you want to see an incredible human being It is crazy that one of the things she says in the movie is 'I ask no favour for my sex, all I ask is that our brothran get their feet off our necks.' long before the George Floyd tra...gedy. She became an attorney when the legal system didn't want women She fought hard for women's rights - the thought that she had to ask that women count equally before the law is still so scary as a women She felt like a Kindergarten teacher explaining how the inequalities between men and women hurt women and made them second class citizens She said there will be enough women on the Supreme Court when there are 9! Powerful words because it seems completely radical although 9 men doesn't! Her love story is extraordinary not only because she found love - but because she feel in love with a boy who was the first to care she had a brain! I can only hope my Halle and all our girls have a much bigger pool and that that is not out of the ordinary This world needs a little more RBG

This arrived on my door step today! Lets see if I can get this baby working and actually get those YouTube art videos going I feel so stiff in all my videos but what the heck... My thought is... going forward - it would be fun to put me on your computer while your kiddo did my corresponding art kit. I was also thinking - so much of what I put together - can be taken and done with stuff you have at home - so those that are on a budget - can still access some of my work I know theres some home schooling peeps that need some art in their life - I would love to help So here we are with the first step - assembly required

Did I mention - I made a box A tower of boxes taller than me and half of those are doubles Thank you a million times over ... When all the orders started rolling in I couldn’t even think straight for a bit - I was so overcome by anxiety!! I just wanted the box to live up to your expectations I also didn’t know how I was going to get that many ready - in the short timeline I gave myself. I have learned a ton from this launch! Mostly that Henry Ford is a genius and the assembly line is by far my best friend right now I’m already planning the winter box - I see that being a Dec 11th pick up - so you can have it in time to make gifts or save it for your two weeks off. It will be a pre order and I will try to increase what I can accommodate. One of the biggest things I learned these last few days is how much time went into each box - if I’m going to do another - I have to remember that and price accordingly. I’m so glad you have these boxes and can tell me if it’s worth it - I need the feedback - because I have lots of ideas and if this one missed the mark - I’ll put my efforts into something else I am super excited to see what you made

Me and my son unintentionally matching as we snuck away to Dawson! I had some shopping to do and he had some skate parking to do Thank you for all the interest. Postie post to show you - we made an emergency drive for driftwood today - I don’t know - I didn’t realize the response would be so big My FB following has kept this dream alive I’m super grateful and extremely humbled by all the requests. I can say that I have enough driftwood - but I don’t know if I can get everything else to fulfill all these orders. I think I can - but won’t know til I shop tomorrow. I honestly thought a handful of people would give it a go but I ev...en have shipping orders I will know tomorrow night where I’m at and if I have a kit for you - thanks for being patient. This was a little trial before Christmas and I promise I’ll give myself a lot more time to get those boxes ready. Also can I say - I really am a handmade person. The response gave me so much anxiety. Yes I’m excited to do this - but a part of me is hoping my videos don’t disappoint I’m not techie by any means and I have had a lovely offer from an IG friend to help me learn how to make my videos a little more snappy - but for now - it’s me and my phone Very similar to the Easter Bunny video I did Anyway - thank you again and a BIG shoutout to my family for coming along for the ride. Im ready to post Fall Classes I want to say - Im taking Covid protocols and do take them seriously. I will be limiting the amount of children per class and table, no helpers this round to cut down on how many people are in the group and each child will have their own supplies. That being said - I also want the children to have fun and provide an environment for socialization and mental wellness ... As many of you know - I have free time - and toys are part of that. They will be able to play and do free time art the same as always - just smaller groups with an added hand wash! I will be encouraging side by side play as opposed to face to face. I think our kids have heard it all by now Now lets get to the schedule - these fall cuties are some of my favorites. I hope these become a part of your fall decor every year - they are designed for all ages and I really mean it. I know I will still love getting something like this from my kids if theyre willing even when they are reaching the double digits! The wood reminded me of a haunted house and the wheels started turning I have two weekend classes that I will post next These will be cash only classes as refunds are so hard with so many classes. When it r a i n s look for ... r a I n b o w s and when its d a r k look for s t a r s Im just going to go ahead and take my own advice - because I have two choices - I can be a problem finder or I can be a problem solver Im going to try my darndest to always look for rainbows before searching out those rain clouds. It wont always be easy but today I was reminded that I have a whole support system working along side me which made it feel really good to be back

I made a box! Everybody’s doing it so why not me The best thing about this box is I made a video for each craft that you can find on YouTube ... My videos aren’t totally profesh YET - but they are fun and I tell a few stories while we wait for paint to dry it’s almost like you’re actually at the ArtHouse Every video is the craft start to finish - so it really is like a private lesson in your own home. This box is sort of a trial. If you like it I’ll get to work on a winter one - if you don’t then I’ll put my efforts into something else I know for some - home is where you feel safe and for others - the classes were full or it didn’t work with your schedule - this is a great way to still get to do a craft or five You also can watch the videos for free and use your own supplies - I am 100% ok with that - I came up with all but one of these crafts - so you thinking they are worthy of doing is a huge compliment. This box is $35 and includes everything for 5 crafts (except glue gun and glue stick) If you want to make the box for two kiddos or adults - yes this is for adults too - it’s $55 Some kids aren’t going to want to do 5 crafts - so you could definitely also split this single box between more than one - either way your fall decor will have touches of homemade from your favourite artists that you can store in the box when your done. Fun Fact - Kindergarten teachers have been using pizza boxes to store yearly work for their students for years it really is the best way to keep all your important keepsakes safe and takes up minimal space

I wanted to share this recipe with you because its become a real favourite for our family. We made this for the first time for our pizza dinner class and its a keeper! I think I like it so much because Max enjoys making it and can do the whole thing on his own. He has a special friend and when she comes over we like to bake. We ended up running out of time to bake cookies but I remembered this quick recipe and it saved the day. So easy and really not too much prep on my pa...rt. The traditional name for this style of cake is a strawberry ice box cake but in our house its going to be called the Max cake. I havent told him yet that you can make more layers - but the more we make it - the more well experiment.... think chocolate sauce oh my If you know me you know I love traditions - cooking and favorite recipes are such a big part of traditions. I hope you make this and love it as much as we do - if you do - let me know - and maybe youll name it something special for your household

#orangeshirtday I have known about residential schools for a long time - but I did not learn about them in school. I am proud that my mom found these stories important a long time ago but I’m also proud that my kids will know about them because they are now being recognized as important to the education system. Knowing about residential schools doesn’t mean I KNOW about them - I have a lot to learn and will be doing so along side my students

Not every picture tells the whole story. This picture is full of joy and bliss - but thats only half the story. This boat ride started off with tears and fears...... We rented last minute and got what we got - which meant we had a tiny tube that Max was not used too. Anxiety and frustration started to show on all of us its hard when your trying to make memories lol! One thing I do know though is - my kiddo knows I have the most anxiety - so if I got on and gave it a chance - he would have to. I let him know that its always scary at first but when you just give it a chance to see that your not going to fly off - itll be fun. Geez - I was saying it for me too Im a get in the pool and lake kinda mom - but Im also a - dont drive too fast - take it slow wimp Anyway - I did it! And when my dad found out - he was pretty impressed too - seeing as he had a boat when we were kids and he knows my tubbing ways In the end we all tubed, we all drove and we all had the BEST day - fears and all. So this picture truly captures THAT moment but it also captures a day that had a lot more to it I hope you all are soaking up the last little bits of summer and making all those imperfectly perfect memories #summerlove #kidsofinstagram #momssupportingmoms #memorymonday

I dont know about you but for me - a lot of my Covid was spent in my comfy tees and indulging in the good stuff If youve had someone pass away - you know they send you pieces of them to comfort you when theyre gone I was looking for a bottle of wine for my draw and this one seemed to just fit! A dolphin for my mom (if you havent been here long, she loved that emoji and sent it whether it fit or not ) and a word that just fits my Covid thoughts - Rigamarole - a length...y and complicated procedure - ummmmm yep!! Cooking and art. My new favourite. These kiddos made a full course meal for their entire family and a beautiful piece of artwork. Im going to let you in on a little secret Im not a wiz in the kitchen - Im not the friend who brings amazing dishes - I have a couple friends who occupy that title but I do love and think Im pretty good at planning fun events - especially for kids. I just think of what I would have loved to do as a kid or what my kids would like and then p...ut it out there. Ive been sitting on these types of classes for years. Not really sure if that would be something people would sign up for, is it too expensive (food costs are so high) etc etc. I take running and providing classes for you so seriously. I have those dreams that I only ever had as a server - the ones where you cant get the food out fast enough or everyone needs a drink and you just cant keep up. Except now my dreams consist of - running a class and realizing I forgot to go shopping or that I dont have enough pieces of paper. Youre paying me your hard earned money to provide your child an experience and I always want to deliver that - a memory. I love that you get to drop your kiddo off for 4 hours and pick them up with dinner in tow Ill also tell you that my awake dreams consist of hearing your kiddos say in 10 years - remember when we used to go to Ms Mervyns... that was so fun

Pizza art class on Tuesday July 28 sold out for the 9 to 1 I would consider changing the 2pm class to 1:30 to 5:30 and then it would be art too if theres enough interest Dinner for the whole family including pizza, salad, dessert and a fancy drink paired with this beyond cute art project $100

Very last class of the summer and its a good one! Lets talk art and cooking class all in one We will be making the whole family their own personalized naan bread pizza, salad, sparkling apple juice and a surprise ice box cake! ... The pizzas will come ready to throw in the oven. While the pizzas cook your child will set the table and serve you a fancy kid friendly drink make a night of it and plan for board games after We will also be making these cuuuute egg carton portraits that my sister in law sent me. I could not resist. Tuesday July 28th 9 to 1 $100 (a steal of a deal because you get dinner served to you that night!) The cooking finale last week. Instead of a take home dinner - we did a picnic. The kiddos got to serve their families the meal that had prepared all week. If you saw the set up we tried to do - it could have qualified for Americas funniest home videos the wind was turned way up and we had plates flying, lids literally popping off our salads - but with water bottles, purses, anything we could find - we held it all down the kids learned how to set a table during a wind st...orm Of course I had a different vision of the table settings when I thought about doing this - but you know what - it still turned out just right When I got home and was doing my clean up - like a crazy person - I set my table the way we had intended Amy Lovell- I know this wont surprise you I didnt hardly take any photos - so if you have any I can share - please send

If this isnt the cutest little (big) driftwood family. Most of the kiddos made a wall hanging but this one fit perfectly into a frame I had so we went with it. I love it! To say I was pooped after last week is an understatement - but it is always so worth it! Three weeks - 12 classes and you think Id figure out the timer on my phone - Thank you to everyone who I had the pleasure of spending time with these last few weeks. People think Im crazy that I spend part of my summer working this hard - but honestly - how lucky am I to be able to work three weeks and take seven off ... Lots of questions regarding more cooking classes and art classes. Im not going to lie I@ officially ready for a break but I also have a really fun idea for a pizza class so if I do squeeze one more in - it will be end of July beginning of Aug for maybe a day or two. Ill keep you posted. Other than that its family time for me, my hubby and the kiddos! Cmon sun - cooperate now

Ok guys - Ive had lots of inquiries on my cooking classes and guess what - 2 spots just popped up starting tomorrow! Mon to Thursday 3pm to 4:30 We are making homemade buns, pasta salad and mini apple pies. ... The best part is - we are serving it to you at the park on Thursday at 5pm. Dinner for your whole family The kids will make a cookbook, as well as a center piece. They will also be setting the table and getting everything ready before you come. This is going to be a very special event and this class has been full sing June. Cost per child is $115

Cooking Class number Max was our chef and dinner did not disappoint - I hope all of you loved your kid style skip the dishes! Except - we had a ton of dishes Theres something about a freshly set table that makes me happy - but I also get a kick out of the spaghetti everywhere place setting too

Art Show prep is almost finished. We will be in the backyard - a bit wet so watch your step - but Ive blocked off the really bad areas to the back of the yard and ask that we stay clear of those. Other than that lets enjoy the sun and all the other bright lights that are your little artists
