https://mysteryscience.com//plant-survival-engineering/133 In Science with Ms. Wendy, students have been learning about the structures of trees that help them stay in place during winds. This morning they created and then tested "umbrellas" which they designed to have some of the properties of trees. After finding that all of their umbrellas blew over in the wind, students returned to the classroom to modify their designs. The key to a good design seems to lie in really thinking about the special structures of the trees.
