If you've ever checked your bank account a few days to the end of the month only to find that you don't know where all your hard eared dollars went? Zero-Based ...Budgeting might be a great budgeting system to try out come April! Here's how it works: 1. Write down your monthly income. 2. Write down your monthly expenses. We mean everything. This includes all your saving and giving priorities - whether for your retirement or a downpayment. This is a great way to make it a monthly habit. 3. Write down your seasonal expenses. Don't forget gifts for the holidays or things around the house you know will need replacing! Once you have them all written out for the year, divide by the remaining months before you'll need to make the purchase. That way when the holidays come, you already have all you need saved! 4. Subtract your income from your expenses to equal zero. They might not right away, so this is your chance to look through and see what might not be worth the expense. 5. Track your spending throughout the month and put your savings away before you spend on anything else. You might not need to track your expenses forever but revisiting your expenses regularly and being intentional with your money will allow you to progress faster while building money habits that work for you.
