Remembrance Day during Covid will look a little different this year. No large gatherings around cenotaphs or ceremonies will be permitted due to current public health restrictions on group sizes in the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region. Some of our Rural legions and municipalities are providing some alternatives this year. Headingley: The Headingley Historical Society has commissioned a videographer to make a Remembrance Day Video. The film will be posted to the Headingley Familie...s Facebook page from approximately Monday, November 9 to Friday, November 13. This video will be like a service that will feature Cathy Maxwell, the minister of the St. Charles Headingley United Church; Mayor John Mauseth; and members of the RCMP and Armed Forces. Sanford: Invited legion members will attend a Remembrance Day ceremony at the cenotaph in Sanford. It will be a shortened service. Legion members will lay wreaths on behalf of community members. The wreaths will remain at the cenotaph until the evening. Members of the public can pay their respect and view the wreaths in the afternoon. Domain: Domain’s legion will not host a public event but five legion members will conduct a private one. Members will record the event. They plan to upload the video to YouTube later in the day. Once the video is online, legion members will post the link on Facebook, and they’ll send an email to members who were not at the service. See more
