It may look like a simple band #ring , but it's actually #handforged and #filed from a sqare rod of #titanium from a sidewinder #missile, then #polished within ...an inch of its life. I believe in #upcycling and #zerowaste production. This is part of an awareness campaign for some of the largest problems facing the fashion industry today. Namely, the ongoing mistreatment of skilled workers in global fashion production. Almost everything was likely made by hand somewhere. It is important that we remember that there is a human being connected to those hands. They deserve to be treated like one. Stand up for them by becoming an informed consumer, and only buying what is made ethically and responsibly.

Something people often don't understand, and I've been asked about this a lot lately, is why I hesitate to call myself a #jeweller or a #designer or an #artist ...or even an #entrepreneur. It's because people like myself do not have such clearly defined #skills. Today, I am #recording #voiceover and #editing it. Then I have to create and edit the #video #ad it is for. Skills that I don't use often, but are entirely #selftaught. And all the #creative people out there understand that this is how we survive. It's not a lack of focus, or fooling around, or wasting time. #learning is never wasted, and though we don't always have a degree or certification in something, it doesn't mean we don't know how to do it. A creative person's skills are often #diverse, and their greatest strength is knowing how to use all those skills in reaching a goal. A #master of one skill is equally valuable as an #apprentice of many. It is simply a different form of mastery. We live in a world that all too often appreciates paperwork more than ability to work. If you know a #hardworking creative, maybe share this with them and tell them you #support them. I have to share this work of art and labour of love... If you know me, you also know I don't care for a lot of 'blingy' bling. I prefer simplicity, clean lines,... and craftsmanship. After describing what I hoped to wear to my son's wedding, my highly creative and talented youngest son Malcolm Stielow designed this! It's a cuff bracelet made from lightweight titanium and anodized in two colors, navy and gold.
