"Learning about the various ways that the women of the region have dealt with direct threats of violence and economic adversity, by joining together, has provid...ed me with a new perspective of how communities can create sanctuaries of peace in the middle of adverse situations." Since 2014 the Institute for Liberal Studies (ILS) has hosted Freedom Week summer seminars across Canada. These seminars have given students the opportunity to hear classical liberal perspectives on various topics in philosophy, politics, economics, and other disciplines. As a result of COVID-19 we will be holding this year's seminar online. Freedom Week online will take place during the week of July 13-17, 2020. Each day will include two lectures and an online social. Studen...ts who attend 10 lectures during the week will receive a $100 Amazon Gift Card. As a result of our new format, we are also inviting faculty to view the lectures. Dear Students Two quick announcements: First, I want to encourage those of you who might be thinking of applying for a Wilson internship next summer (the deadline for which is in January) to come talk to me. I would be happy to help you work through your ideas, give you some options, or anything else that might be useful. I realize the deadline is a long ways off, but finding a host organization takes time and is necessary to have in place before you start on your application.... Second, I was thinking of doing a quick workshop of sorts after the November break on the capstone paper for those of you who will be writing one this term or next. If you think this might be useful, please let me know either in the comments section below or by email, so I can determine whether or not to schedule something. Finally, as always, you are welcome to come see me with questions or concerns regarding any and everything PPEmy office is Hart Hall 103, and I have office hours TuTh 4 to 5 pm, and I can also meet you by appointment. Thanks, Dr. R. Majithia
